Precious Jems Rattery
Precious Jems is a small hobby rattery dedicated to raising quality fancy rats in Central Oregon. Dedicated to raising quality fancy rats for pet and show.
Temperament and health comes first. I raise merle and varigated patterned rats in cinnamon, mink and pearl in a combination of colors and patterns with cinnamon pearl being my main focus at this time. Most of my varigateds are black, but I do get the occasional mink, red eye dilute and other combinations. I also work with standard coat, velveteen coat, standard ear and dumbo ear. I don't require a

If you’re in Oregon City or close by and you’d love to have a couple of dwarf rats to love on, here’s your chance!
Horton is a 4 month old black velveteen dumbo boy. He wasn’t handled as a baby, so has been on the shy side. He went to Oregon City to be a buddy for Smudge, who was the only boy born in his litter, about a month ago. He’s learning that people just want to be friends and he’s coming out of his shell a little more every day.
Smudge is a 2 month old black dumbo boy. He’s been handled and loved on from birth, is very friendly and adventurous. He and Horton are ready to find their very own person/family to love.
Contact me for more info and to get in contact with Horton and Smudge’s person.

Hi everyone! I have several lovely ladies still hoping for a person of their own to love. They’re about 3 months old now, but still very much babies. They are outgoing and very personable. Those who have taken home siblings , have been reporting back with lots of praises for how sweet they are.
Since these girls and their remaining brothers are older, my priority is to get them into loving 🏠 asap. All are now 3️⃣0️⃣🏷️ for a pair. Talk to me if you’re interested in more than 2. These babies are just too sweet to not get a 🏠
I would appreciate if you share this with those who would be interested and would also be committed and loving 🏠
Thank you!

Monday Highlight
Giving my available boys the spotlight today. They are the first offspring from my big, beautiful silvermane buck, Rook. I was blessed to bring Rook home last September from J&J Willamette Rattery.
Rook is a huge, squishy sweet boy. He is bringing size and laid back temperament back into my line. I’ve been so very happy with these babies.
This first generation has brought some good diversity of color, but the next generation should bring even more.
The 4 normal size boys are all good size for their age. The 2 black boys especially, are exceptionally big. They are so sweet. One of them gives my fingers a thorough washing. They love to be held and rubbed. I think the photos show how relaxed and laid back they are.
The silvermane and agouti boys are younger, but likely won’t be as big. Though, they won’t be small either. They are just as calm and sweet as their half brothers.
This pair of dwarf boys are the first offspring from one of my most lovey, outgoing dwarf buck and doe. The marble boy is very adventurous and a big attention hog. He’s always the first to greet me. His brother is a bit on the shy side, but he’s getting more outgoing and confident everyday. I feel he will really open up when he gets his own person and isn’t housed with so many bigger boys who push him out of the way when I open the door.
Though these guys are no longer babies at 10 and 12 weeks old, they are still very young and very deserving of their own family.
If interested, give me a PM. All of the rats I have that are ready to go, are reduced 🏷️ to help them get into loving 🏠 sooner than later.
Give these wonderful boys consideration!

Hi everyone! I can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks since my hand surgeries. I’m finally able to pick up and handle the kids again. I still have several who are hoping for their own people to love. I’m still offering the black and agoutis for a lower 🏷️ to help them get more attention. They are all really sweet and calm kiddos. The black boys especially, are just big squishies and I mean, big!
The dwarf kids are just too adorable. Very sweet, like their parents. My dwarfs have all been especially friendly and take new situations in stride. Just wonderful little personalities.
I have also decided to let go 2 darling little girls I got from another breeder. They are beautiful, interesting rexoid type coats. The fur is very soft and crimpy, with patches of nearly peach fuzz. They are white sided, a newish pattern that makes fo some really pretty patterns. These girls are really sweet. Theyre just small, so not what im wanting genetically. They are 4 months old. More info in the descriptions on each photo.
Happy New Year everyone! It’s been such a crazy few months here. Just had surgery on both hands last Tuesday. Everything went smoothly and recovery is going great. I’m just limited on how much I can do. For this reason and also because I have a very special rat that will be undergoing surgery to repair damage from an abcess (exposed jawbone), which is t going to be cheap. Especialy for a disabled person with no disability benefits! Ive decided to reduce prices on my current litters.
All black and agouti kids are $15. Silvermane and pearls $25.
As always, my rats must go in pairs at the least and I have to approve of the enclosure you have or plan to get. A great home is always my #1 goal.
I also have several wonderful older girls looking for someone to spoil them. Some have had a litter and some have gotten too old to breed. I tend to keep more than I can really use. lol They all range from 10 months to about 14 months old. Very friendly, lovey girls. I do not charge for my retirees, but approval is a must.
Thank you everyone!

Hi everyone! I am a few hours away from having surgery on both hands. Recovery is going to be tough, since it’s going to be trickier to post photos. I’ve been so busy the last week, I haven’t had a chance to post pictures of my last 2 litters that are now ready for families.
I’m not getting any sleep, so I figured I’d get them posted now, rather than wait to see how I manage after surgery. 😆
For the sake of time, I’m posting 1 photo of everyone and will add basic info in the photo description. Is possible I’ve missed a few in my haste, so i may have a few more to post later. I’ll be using talk to text, so I can still respond to messages.
I have a lot of beautiful ratlings who are super excited to meet their future human buddies. Message me for more

Hello everyone! It’s been a long time. Life has been extremely stressful the last several months. It’s been hard to get time to post anything on my page!
That said, I have a few really nice kids ready to find their own person to love.
They are 8 weeks. I took photos of the boys and will get photos of the girls tonight or tomorrow. There are only 2 girls available from this batch. I also have a few kids from another litter that will be ready January 1st. Some dwarfs as well as normal size. So, I’ll be posting them soon, as well.
There are 2 photos of each boy in this post. Ideally, id like to pair a black with a silvermane. The black boys are hard to adopt in pairs. Details when you click on the photos.

I don’t know what it is, but my girls almost always are the quickest to make friends with me, if they’re even shy at all to begin with. They are just always much more confident and fast to adapt to new situations. The litters I’m introducing here are no exceptions. I did have several that were surprisingly overly cautious, wiggly and squeaky as babies. It was confusing to me since their parents are so not that way. However, they all came out of one day, like a switch came on. Now, every one of these girls are at the door the second I come in, climbing over each other and pushing each other away for attention. It has been wonderful to see. One of them is especially very kissy. Oh, how hard it is not to keep her! There’s just too many I’d love to keep and I’m making myself stick with only keeping 2 normal size and the only 2 dwarfs.
Also, i have decided to let these litters go at half 🏷️ since they are older and they all get a chance to get 🏡s before they get much older.
Additional reduction if you want 2 pairs.
So, here are my Summer girls. Do t forget to click on their photos for information.

Oh, my goodness! What an insane month July was. I don’t think there’s been another summer that I’ve been Mia thankful for August! Not that things are going to be any less busy, but after this next weekend, temperatures will be getting more consistently normal. I can’t remember the last time we’ve had so much humidity!
I know I promised over a week ago that I’d have photos of my kids who have their “bags packed” and are ready to meet their new families. The photos are finally done. I have the boys’ photos all edited. I can’t tell you how many times I went back and forth on wanting to keep a few of these guys. At first, I wasn’t going to allow myself to keep any, but one kept telling I couldn’t let him go. So, I caved. 😆 Some of these boys are meek and mild, while some are more confident and playful. They all temperament test very well. I have no doubt once they don’t have so many siblings vying for attention, they will blossom even more in their personalities. Please, click on the individual’s photos for info about them.
I still need to edit the girls’ photos. That should happen this evening if i get my way! So, be watching for those. Most likely , late tonight.
So, with no further ado, here are the Precious Gems boys of summer.
Hi everyone! Long time, no posts. I’ve had a very busy summer! Including having 4 litters! Two, being from a newish cross of lines I haven’t done before. The parents of this cross have fantastic temperaments, with absolutely no maternal or hormonal aggression at all. Dad is a gorgeous 9 month old agouti dumbo. The two moms are another agouti dumbo and an agouti tonkinese odd blaze. I admit, she is my favorite. She is very lovey and kissy. From the day her litter was born, she tried to drag my hand into the nest box. lol
I have hung onto up these litters longer than normal. For some reason, most of my favorite doe’s boys especially, were squeaky and shy. So, I held onto them longer to see how they’d change as they matured. I’m happy to say that most have come around and are becoming the friendly, playful rats I expected from these pairings.
The girls in these litters are extremely outgoing and friendly. Most are very willing to rough house play with my hand and allow me to pick them up and give them a gentle toss. They come back for more.
So, I’m happy to report that I will be taking photos of these 2 litters and will be posting them in the next day or two. I got a pleasantly surprising variety of beautiful colors and some with some really nice patterns. I’m yet again faced with the hard reality that I cannot keep as many as I would love to. They were born 5/24 and 5/28 of this year, so the oldest will be 9 weeks old this weekend.
The other 2 litters? One was born before the 2 mentioned above and most have left the nest. I do still have a few dwarfs from that litter that I’ve been allowing to grow up more before making my decisions on who is staying. Baby dwarf rats are very tiny and most are still far too small at 8 weeks for me to consider letting go just then. I will be posting those who will be available soon.
The youngest litter was born 6/17. There are some dwarfs and normal size in this litter who will be available. Again, the dwarfs will stay a bit longer, but the normal size kids will be ready August 8th. This litter is a lot of fun. Most are heavy patterned variegated and capped. All dumbos. So, stay tuned for them!
Please message me if you have questions! I can’t wait to share these little cuties with you!
