These new standards are designed to help protect homes and communities through fire-hardened materials, smarter landscaping practices, and proactive mitigation efforts. An important piece of the legislation also helps ensure homeowners can make wildfire safety upgrades within HOA communities while still preserving neighborhood aesthetics.

New wildfire prevention rules could override HOA building restrictions in Central Oregon New wildfire-resistant building standards are now in effect in Bend, Sisters and Deschutes County. The rules encourage fire-hardened materials and limit HOA authority to block certain wildfire safety upgrades.
