What's up Type 2ers!! Thanks to the fun crew that joined us on a jaunt up Middle Sister this past weekend.

We had absolutely breathtaking views and the group completed 18.5 miles and 5k+ elevation gain like it was nothin'. 🏔🌄💪

Hey all, we have one spot available for a Three Sisters backcountry skiing Yurt trip (Tam McArthur Rim) this coming Thursday April 13 to Sunday that became unexpectedly available today.

2 yurts, 12 bunk spots, wood fired sauna, 3 nights / 4 days of skiing with 11 mostly nice backcountry folks. Avy gear is required.

$375 + some dinner expenses because we do community dinners. Bring your own, lunches, breakfasts and alcohol.

We leave from Bend this Thursday at 7:30am, returning to Bend Sunday afternoon.

We ski in different groups and there will likely be a guide there for people who want to use that service. He's $300/day total. He's an Avy instructor too, so part safety part physical guiding. If you'd want him for sure, let me know. I think there 2 or more people that we're interested in splitting the cost

Type 2ers weren't quite feeling like braving the storm today, and we don't blame anyone for bailing on the Tumalo tour or the 30mph drive up Century.

But the 2 who made it out were rewarded with some glimpses of blue sky and 22" of pow in the last 48 hours! They report that they felt like they were flying ✈️

Great crew of 10 Type 2ers (plus 2 we met out on the hill with their pup) to get after finding the pow and earning our turns.

The Deschutes County Road Department plans to close the Cascade Lakes Highway and Paulina Lake Road at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Limited snow plowing will be provided prior to closure. Drivers are encouraged to use caution on snow covered roads.

Cascade Lakes Highway will be closed west of Mt. Bachelor between the snow gates at Dutchman Flat and Deschutes Bridge at the intersection with Forest Service Road 4270.

Paulina Lake Road will be closed at the ten-mile snow park gate, which will restrict access to Paulina and East Lake.

Both facilities will remain closed through the winter and will be targeted for reopening prior to Memorial Day, weather permitting.

Rock Climber Wins Bear Fight Using Martial Arts A rock climber recently descending Mount Futago in Japan found himself in a literal bear fight with an angry sow, and he got it on GoPro.

And Paulina Peak Road four days before this…!

The Road Department is tentatively scheduled to open Cascade Lakes Highway on Monday, May 16, at 8 a.m.
