This project is incorporating our high performance triple pane, steel reinforced upvc European windows. A couple of nice details about this particular job are:
1) They include a structural aluminum nailing fl**ge which allows the installers to secure and flash them just like any other window (saves labor and costs).
2) The stationary sections are a “fixed sash” so that they match the operable sash’s adjacent to them.

Great job designing these houses & great job installing these windows .

DEFLECTION.

This particular project in Boulder county requires the Fenestration to meet a 165 nominal wind speed. That means stiffeners are necessary once you introduce vertical mullions over a certain height. As you can see here, the stiffener is added to the exterior and is color matched for a seamless integration. This limits the amount of deflection and thermal expansion the profile experiences over its lifetime.

Big windows are no problem when it comes to European systems. Three separate frames were site assembled with an integral stiffener at each mull for structural integrity. Then everything was site glazed from the interior.

We also take waterproofing seriously, which is why we always includes a back dam that is sealed and connected to the drainage plane for continuity - that way no water will ever get into the walls or house.
