Miles Toland

I painted this for in Bellingham, WA. The mural is called “The Keeper” and it’s about the feeling of connecting to and embodying the environment that surrounds us. The figure is holding a golden disk that could be the sun or it could be a symbol of anything that brings power and light into their world.
Very honored and grateful that this painting got the peoples’ top vote! This means I’ll be coming back to Bellingham next year to paint a permanent mural.
I had a great time connecting with old artist friends and making new ones. It was a seriously talented group, many of whom I look up to artistically.
Big thanks to and for having us and to all the volunteers at Noisy Waters that helped make it possible. Lots of good memories 🙏🏼

I’m very proud to see my art on such a classy bottle with the bronze foil and wax to match the art. It’s one of those moments where I feel like I’ve made it as an artist. Big thanks to Breckenridge Distillery and for the support, opportunity, and creative collaboration!

I painted this memorial piece of at . I never met him but I was asked to paint him by some of his friends because he was a big part of this rave community and really close with the founder of EDC . I was a bit reluctant and nervous until I started listening to his podcasts and watching his videos and got a feel for his fun loving character. I wanted the mandala behind him to match his larger than life energy and brightness. His body is painted semi-transparent to symbolize his passing and his shirt is pulling him back to the cosmos. And of course he’s in his classic pose that embodies his spirit and humor. I also like this pose because the way his arms are held open reminds me of how it feels to see an old friend after a long time.
To all of his friends and family, my condolences. I hope this portrait does him justice and is a loving reminder.

Mural for the Astra Tower in Salt Lake City, UT.

The prompt for this commission was to paint an archetypal woman merging with the wild and independent spirit of the lone wolf. This was a commission of full trust where my client didn’t know what the composition was until I delivered the finished piece. Beautiful things happen in this space.
