Last week, a group of builders gathered to kick off a mission to revive the Residential Construction Program at Bellingham Technical College. Together, this group is working to expand access to living-wage career pathways, strengthen the talent pipeline for local builders, and remove barriers for learners entering the trades for the first time.

Bellingham Technical College is launching a new Residential Construction hands-on training program through Continuing Education—developed in direct partnership with local residential builders.

With nearly 20% of the regional construction workforce age 55+, the need for job-ready trades professionals has never been greater. This program prepares students with practical skills like tool operation, site safety, framing basics, trim work, and job-site workflow so they can contribute from day one.

To fully equip the workshop and remove barriers for new learners, BTC is working to raise $25,000 for tools, safety gear, equipment, and materials. This investment strengthens our workforce and supports local employers.

This log home along Chuckanut Drive is getting a major upgrade to handle harsh weather while keeping its cozy log cabin interior.

We’re improving airtightness, durability, and comfort with new exterior systems, triple-pane windows, and structural repairs.

Can’t wait to share the transformation!

These beach house before & after pictures speak for themselves, but WOW, it's certainly ready to host beach days and family gatherings all season long!

But the stuff you don't see is doing the heaviest lifting: a rainscreen system to keep moisture out and walls breathing, continuous exterior insulation, and meticulous air sealing. Remodeling done right means building for the next hundred years, not just the next five.
