Birch Bay! Join us at the next Birch Bay Community Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:00 p.m. for a Q&A with Councilmembers Buchanan, Elenbaas, and Scanlon. Everyone who attends will also have an opportunity to hear from Whatcom County Public Works staff regarding future replacement of the Jackson Road Bridge.
The Birch Bay Advisory Committee offers guidance and recommendations to the Council and County Executive about growth, development, and local priorities.

A Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) is open at the Sumas Advent Christian Church, Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm and 11am to 2pm on Saturdays to offer support for those impacted by the December 2025 floods.
Reminder to those impacted by December's flood: a Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) is open at the Sumas Advent Christian Church, Monday-Friday 9a to 5p and 11a to 2p on Saturdays. The DAC is staffed by representatives from FEMA, the US Small Business Administration, and Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group.
There is never a charge for the services provided by these response partners, who are: helping people register for FEMA's Individual (household) Assistance program, applying for SBA's low-interest rate disaster loans, and disaster case management to help connect households with other resources, including the state's IA program (which has a deadline to apply of Monday, April 27 via SAhelp.org.)
