Look who I ran into on this Good Friday. It’s my ole friend,Susan. We grew up in the rural community of Central. Our parents were friends. Her older brothers were friends with my older sister. How time flies.
Our school 1-12 was on one property. The elementary building was a large, imposing building with a smell I’ll never forget. It was a combination of kids, old books and maybe some mold. I couldn’t wait to get there every morning so I could deposit my sweater in the cloakroom and sit in my desk.
Junior high and high school also had separate buildings there. I spent all 12 years on this property. I passed by it the other day. All those buildings are gone and replaced with other businesses. But the memories remain.
😍
Happy birthday Penny! I don’t have enough reel space to add all of our trips over the years. This is just the highlights.
Birthdays don’t mean quite what they used to but we still must mark the day. We have made it another 365 days.

Lunch with my Shadowbrook Sisters celebrating my breast cancer milestone! Thank you Patti Isenberg and Chris Kimball!!! Always great catching up!!!
In my house, a basic pound cake is made with 3 sticks butter, 3 cups sugar, 5-6 eggs, 3 cups flour, 1 heaping tsp baking powder, pinch salt , flavoring and a cup of milk.
Of course I add and substitute ingredients all the time according to my expected outcome.
For this cake I just used sour cream rather than milk. Also, heaping tablespoon almond emulsion used. I have added the almond emulsion I used to the end of the video.
Before I added batter to the cake pan, I sprinkled heavily with sliced almonds.
And I must say it turned out as expected!
I never have to worry about being left with cake. I have lots of drop- ins that gladly take home.

Today marked the end of my five year relationship with the Woman’s Hospital Cancer Pavilion. It is not a bad thing!
Thank you Tammy Asmus who has the best staff ever! Everyone wears a smile! They make you feel like family and they hug you goodbye!

Well St.Francis, it’s been 20 years since you married Lyn-dee and relocated her many states away. I have to admit, I was worried. She was not all that responsible and really had not left the nest. Had she ever used the stove? I don’t think so.
I will never forget the trip I made up to get her moved. I stayed a few weeks and from that moment forward, I felt it was a second home. When I boarded the plane home, I cried my eyes out having to leave Phoebe ( who was such a wise 4 yo) and freshly hatched Brady, who never cried, just ate and slept. There’s no feeling in the world like being a grandmother.. it was a second chance. And this time, I could enjoy every moment with no stressors. When AL came along, the family was complete!
The years have flown by. Both of you have included me on vacations, visits ( sometimes lengthy) and introduced me to all the friends and neighbors. Being so far away, I did miss a lot of things with the kids but I got so many pictures and phone calls, eventually turning into FaceTime calls, so I never felt I missed that much!
Happy 20 and here’s to 20 more. 🥂
Love, Mammy

There is no friends like old friends. We picked Amite to go to lunch so we would have plenty of time to catch up on life. I was driving. That’s always interesting especially in unfamiliar territory! Example: I go to back up and my back up mirror didn’t come on my screen. I started a slight panic but they all assured me that it would come up when I put the car in reverse. It was in drive! 🤷♀️ it takes a village.

I love my Valentine Bundt pan I’ve had for several years! It’s a devils food chocolate cake with a pour over icing. 💝🍥🍰🎂
