🌱🍅🍄 A Day of Harvest 🍄🍅🌱

Some days are busy.

Some days are productive.

And some days remind us why we chose this life in the first place.

After a full day at work, the evening became a celebration of the harvest.

Tomatoes were gathered from the garden and set in the windowsill to finish ripening. Cherry tomatoes were roasted and preserved for future meals. Okra was harvested, cut, portioned, and tucked away in the freezer.

Fresh shiitake mushrooms were harvested, dried, and placed into tincture extraction to begin their next chapter.

Meanwhile, jars of home-canned tomatoes lined the counter, preserving a little piece of summer for the months ahead.

It’s an old homestead mindset:

🌱 Harvest when it’s ready.
🥫 Preserve what you can’t eat.
🏺 Store what you’ll need later.
❤️ Waste as little as possible.

The finished products are only part of the story.

Behind every jar, every bottle, and every harvest are gardens, mushroom blocks, drying racks, kitchen counters, and evenings spent working with what nature provides.

Today reminded us that abundance isn’t always measured by what we buy.

Sometimes it’s measured by what’s growing in the garden, ripening in the windowsill, resting in the pantry, and quietly extracting in a mason jar on the counter.

🍅🌿 From Garden to Windowsill 🌿🍅

One of the simple joys of summer is a tray full of homegrown tomatoes waiting to ripen.

These beauties came straight from our garden and are now finishing their journey from vine to table. Some will become fresh slices on sandwiches, some may find their way into a pot of smothered tomatoes and okra, and a few will likely end up tucked away in jars for later.

Growing your own food has a way of slowing you down and reconnecting you with the seasons. Every tomato started as a tiny seed, grew through Louisiana heat, summer storms, and a lot of patience.

Nature works on her own schedule—and the harvest is always worth the wait.

❤️ What are your favorite ways to use fresh garden tomatoes?

🦊😴 Red said: “Wake me up when it’s not Monday anymore.”

The leaves are soft, the water bowl is full, and Monday is finally behind us.

Whether your day was productive, chaotic, or somewhere in between, take a lesson from Red: rest when you need to, recharge when you can, and don’t feel guilty about slowing down for a moment.

Nature doesn’t rush—and neither does a fox.

Happy Tuesday, friends. ❤️

(And yes… Red appears to have survived another Monday. 😆)

🌸🍄 From Mimosas to Mushrooms 🍄🌸

One day we’re harvesting mimosa flowers. The next we’re drying wild-foraged chanterelle mushrooms.

Whether it’s flowers, herbs, berries, roots, or mushrooms, every harvest starts the same way—with respect for nature, careful processing, and a whole lot of hands-on work.

Today’s project? Freshly harvested mimosa flowers making their way into the dehydrator while the chanterelles finish drying from a recent foraging adventure.

From mimosas to mushrooms, Wild Roux Remedies has you covered.
