CACRC is a certified ITAD provider, which stands for Information Technology Asset Disposition. In simple terms, ITAD is the professional process of handling retired technology in a secure, documented, and responsible way. It includes collection, tracking, data destruction, testing, refurbishment, resale, donation, and recycling. Done correctly, ITAD helps organizations protect sensitive information while also extending the life of valuable technology whenever possible.

For CACRC, this work is guided by industry standards, certification requirements, and a deep commitment to trust.

CACRC has maintained R2 and RIOS certifications since 2012. R2v3 is a globally recognized electronics reuse and recycling standard that includes requirements for responsible management of used electronics, environmental protection, worker safety, and data security. RIOS, the Recycling Industry Operating Standard, is designed specifically for the recycling industry and integrates quality, environmental, health, and safety practices into one management system. Did you know that in Louisiana 1 in 5 families do not have a computer in their home? These families fully rely on a smart phone or a public computer in a library or a community center. A computer in the home can bring new opportunities, economic mobility, and hope.

Here, at CACRC, we recycle, refurbish, and redistribute devices with the goal of bringing digital access and digital opportunity throughout Louisiana. A couple of weeks ago, we attended a job fair with the Ascension Parish library and distributed laptops to individuals who are actively seeking jobs and do not have a computer in their home.

💻✨ Supporting workforce readiness in Ascension Parish through access to technology!

With support from a Capital Area United Way grant, CACRC partnered with Ascension Parish Library to provide refurbished laptops and hotspots to community members working toward employment opportunities and career growth.

In today’s digital world, reliable access to technology is essential for job searching, resume building, online training, and staying connected. We’re proud to help place these tools into the hands of individuals working toward their goals and building brighter futures.

We recently received a testimonial from HOPE Ministries, and it perfectly captures what access to technology can mean.

When HOPE Ministries received donated computers from CACRC, it helped transform their campus into a fully functioning computer lab, creating a space where individuals can learn, grow, and take steps toward a more stable future.

Many of the clients they serve had little to no access to reliable technology. Now, they’re earning technical certifications, building resumes, applying for jobs, and exploring new career paths.

For some, it’s their first consistent access to technology in a supportive environment, and that access is building confidence, independence, and real opportunity.

Today, we're reflecting on the LSU Hilltop Arboretum Earth Day event and the opportunity to share CACRC’s work alongside KEEP TIGER TOWN BEAUTIFUL, Republic Services of Baton Rouge, and Glass Half Full.

At CACRC, we often say that we work at the intersection of environmental stewardship, technology, and community impact. Yes, we recycle electronics, but the work does not stop there.

One story we shared was about a mother who reached out after her husband lost his job and their car broke down. She had the opportunity to accept a remote job, but the only barrier standing in her way was access to a computer with Windows 11.
