Those superficial elements are not unimportant, but we believe that they are not at the heart of what makes a house a home. Alone, they can't create the sense of home and community that makes our homes a place that fosters closeness, harmony and renewal. At Bardwell, we believe that there's more to a great home than what you see at the home show. In fact, we've built a business based on the philosophy that some of the most influential elements of 'home' are things that go unnoticed. We craft homes based on not only what you expect to see, but on what you don't expect. In fact, sometimes it's what's NOT there that makes the house, and the community, feel like home.

We completely understand that being one of the first homeowners in a new community takes trust. In 2003, we built Providence, one of the first traditional neighborhood communities on Highland Road. Many of the original families still call it home, and the live oaks we protected during construction still stand today.

Our founder, Scott Bardwell, recently joined a builder panel hosted by HBA|GBR, sharing what over 20 years of building in the Capital Region has taught him.
When asked what sets Bardwell apart, Scott pointed to the same philosophy behind Providence back in 2002: building communities rather than subdivisions.
He also shared advice from his mentor, Bill Peters, that applies past homebuilding: know who you are, and be specific.
