September is National Life Insurance Month, and if we could sit down over a cup of coffee right now, here are 5 things we'd love to share with you about it. ⬇️
1. Life insurance through your job may not follow you when you leave. Employer-provided coverage is a great benefit, but depending on the policy, you could lose it when you change jobs or retire. It’s worth knowing exactly what you have rather than assuming you’re covered for the long haul.
2. Your beneficiary designation can matter more than what your will says. This surprises a lot of people. Life insurance generally pays the beneficiary listed on the policy, so keeping those designations current is important, especially after a marriage, divorce, birth, death, or other major life change.
3. Some life insurance policies can provide benefits while you're still living. Depending on the policy and its riders, you may be able to access a portion of the death benefit in certain circumstances, such as a qualifying terminal or chronic illness. Life insurance isn't always exclusively about what happens after you die.
4. You can have more than one life insurance policy. Life insurance isn't necessarily a one-policy-and-you're-done situation. Some people carry multiple policies for different needs or periods of their lives, assuming they qualify and the total coverage is financially justified.
5. Life insurance generally isn't something you should set up and completely forget about. You don't necessarily need to change it every year, but it's smart to periodically make sure the coverage amount, policy type, and beneficiaries still make sense for the life you're living today.

It's almost time for the best season, and around Baton Rouge, you know what that means. 🐯
LSU is such a big part of the community we call home, and for our team, it’s personal too. Our Founder, Miguel, is the proud grandparent of an LSU student and can be frequently found cheering from the stands at home football games!

The Medicare timeline that everyone should know, but if you don't, we've got you covered. ⬇️
1. When you're 64, it's time to start preparing. Review your employer coverage, RX needs, providers, and more to make sure you understand your entire healthcare picture.
2. 3 months BEFORE you turn 65, your initial enrollment period begins.
3. During the month you turn 65, Medicare eligibility starts for most people.
4. 3 months AFTER you turn 65, your initial enrollment period ends. Missing it without credible coverage can trigger penalties.
5. You've completed the full 7-month enrollment period.
