Check out this article on Belfair Montessori Magnet School’s latest magnet achievement of receiving Top Magnet School of Excellence this year.

Belfair and The Dufrocq School are currently utilizing the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector’s Montessori Teacher Residency training program. A MACTE-accredited program, the MTR meets teachers where they are, allowing them to train in place in their own school systems and removing many of the hurdles traditionally associated with Montessori training.

We are proud to continue reaching for the stars, training our educators, and meeting students where they need us most with specialized programs. Let’s go higher!

Our final Magnet Site Coordinator meeting of the school year was one filled with inspiration, reflection, and celebration.

Hosted at Scotlandville Magnet High School Magnet Coordinators wrapped up their book study of The Definitive Guide to Instructional Coaching after taking a tour of the campus and seeing firsthand the incredible opportunities already underway for students this summer.

Scotlandville High is bustling with activity as incoming students begin Summer Bridge, where they will have the opportunity to earn Industry-Based Credentials before the start of the school year. The campus is also alive with band camps, athletic clinics, and a variety of programs designed to help students learn, grow, and get connected before August arrives.

The meeting concluded with a special celebration honoring Scotlandville High graduate and Class Valedictorian Katlin Johnson, recipient of the 2026 Kathy Craig Scholarship. Katlin, who plans to attend LSU and pursue a career in secondary education, was recognized for her outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and dedication.

Presented annually by the Kathy Craig Foundation, the scholarship honors the legacy of Kathy Craig and supports exceptional magnet program seniors as they continue their educational journeys. Coordinators were moved by the heartfelt words shared by Kathy's family, Principal Paul Jackson, and Katlin herself as she accepted this well-deserved honor.

As our coordinators head into a well-earned summer, we are grateful for their dedication to creating exceptional opportunities for students across EBR Schools. Congratulations, Katlin, and thank you to Scotlandville High for hosting a memorable end-of-year gathering!
