I just wanted to pass on some information to all friends that are about to get to work on these water damaged houses.
Time is of the essence. Extract all wet interior wall coverings and insulation ASAP. Remove wet carpet, saturated engineered wood flooring, and wet personal materials, get them outside. The house needs to dry out. It can't when it is full of wet materials.
The sooner you get all the wet stuff out of the house, the fewer repairs you will incur in the future.
If you have compressed/manufactured cabinets and they have been wet for more than 48 hours, get them out of the house. Solid wood may still be ok.
If your exterior condenser was under water it may still work. Your A/C extracts moisture from the air, getting it running in a safe environment will help dry out the house.
Turn on all fans. Air movement encourages evaporation. If you can get your hands on dehumidifiers or air movers(drying equipment), do it.
GET THE WET STUFF OUT!!! DRY IT OUT!!! Sort out the remodel later!

Items you will need:
Large yard garbage bags
Sheetrock saw
Wheelbarrow(preferably 2 or more)
Screw drivers(phillips and flathead)
Crowbars
A couple flat shovels
A few Hammers(Sheetrock screws can be knocked off with a hammer)
Big brooms
Big dust pans..a few good friends

You can dump garbage along the road. Since this is a "disaster", our government should help by picking it up. Powerlines overhead can be problematic for pick-up, be aware.

Take a lot of pictures, before and after.

Keep those dryer vents clean folks! Lint filled dryer vents are a safety hazard.

People ask me all the time, ‘Should I get new construction inspected?’ The answer is YES! Even the best builders make mistakes. It happens all the time. This is why I have a job.

While inspecting a $650,000+ home this morning, I discovered a significant roof leak. The design made this a tough spot to properly flash/seal.
Mistakes happen. GET IT INSPECTED FOLKS!
And no, I won’t tell you who the builder is. 😊
