Fathers lead with strength, love, and quiet wisdom. They protect, provide, and pass down the values that shape our lives. Today, we honor every dad, grandfather, and father figure whose steady hand helped shape the foundation of our communities. Happy Father’s Day!

On Flag Day we pause to honor the symbol of our freedom, and the sacrifices made to defend it. Every star and stripe reminds us of the responsibility we share to protect our neighbors and build a stronger Louisiana. As Commissioner of Insurance I am working to restore fairness, lower costs, and give families the security they deserve.
Today let us fly the flag proudly and rededicate ourselves to service, integrity, and reform. Happy Flag Day.

I appreciated the chance to speak with the Fleur De Lis Republican Women in Lafayette and give an update as the legislative session comes to a close.
With the exception of HB148, the reform bills passed this session represent real progress. They target the legal abuse that drives up rates and make important strides toward a fairer system for everyone on the road.

My thanks to the LDI Fraud team and the Louisiana State Police for their tireless work. The Louisiana Department of Insurance and our law enforcement partners remain committed to aggressively pursuing those who commit these types of insurance crimes. Honest citizens deserve protection. That is exactly what we’re delivering. Read more here:

We’re making real progress toward fixing Louisiana’s broken legal system. On the Joe Cunningham Show, I shared how nearly every insurance reform bill signed into law this session takes meaningful steps to disincentivize abuse of our courts. One of the most important? Rep. Chenevert’s bill. It says if you cause the accident, you can’t recover damages. That’s just common sense.

Two important reform bills are on their way to the Governor’s desk. The Senate passed SB28 and SB137—two smart, consumer-focused bills that will help strengthen our homes and improve oversight of Louisiana’s insurance market.

If you caused the accident, you shouldn’t profit from it. That’s just common sense, and now it’s the law. I joined Mike & McCarty on KEEL News to talk about a major legal reform that changes how fault is handled in Louisiana auto accidents. Before this, someone 90% at fault could still sue for damages. We fixed that.

On Sunday, the Legislature advanced several bills I’ve supported to help fix Louisiana’s broken insurance system.
Three are now headed to the Governor’s desk. Two more cleared the House, and one passed the Senate.
We’re making real headway, but much work remains.

I hosted underwriters from London to tour some of southeast Louisiana’s most critical hurricane and flood mitigation infrastructure, from the Lake Borgne Storm Surge Barrier to the 17th Street Canal and the West Closure Complex. Thanks to the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, the Flood Protection Authority, and the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority, West for their leadership and for helping us showcase our state’s strong commitment to resilience and risk reduction.

Six key insurance reform bills I supported were signed into law last week. These are real steps toward a stronger, more stable market. Each law helps protect consumers, attract competition, and make insurance work better for Louisiana families.

Louisiana just earned its best insurance regulation grade in over a decade. The
R Street Institute’s annual report gives our state its highest ranking since 2013, citing improvements to our regulatory environment and the expansion of the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program. This progress is proof that smart reform and strong leadership are making a difference.

New research shows attorneys spent over $2.5 billion last year on nearly 27 million ads, with many targeting insurance claims. Experts warn these ads create urgency, overpromise results, and lead to more lawsuits—driving up costs for families and businesses. We need a legal system that works for the people, not one driven by profit.
