This is why I do what I do. β€οΈπΎ
Today I worked on a young dog whose coat had become severely matted. The matting around the ears was so tight that it had begun constricting the ear leather. Underneath the matting were areas of irritation that couldn't even be seen until the hair was safely removed.
Life happens.
People get busy. Families go through hard times. Dogs don't always get groomed on schedule. My job isn't to judge anyone who walks through my door. My job is to help.
One thing I never want my clients to feel is shame for asking for help. Reaching out is the first step, and I'd rather someone call me with a dog in rough condition than wait even longer because they're afraid of being judged.
This appointment wasn't about giving a pretty haircut. It was about giving this dog relief.
After the groom, I followed up with the owner, discussed the condition of the ears, and made sure they knew what to watch for while everything heals. That's part of grooming too. Education, communication, and making sure both the pet and owner are supported.
The transformation photos are amazing, but what matters most to me is that this dog can now move comfortably, see clearly, and live without pounds of painful matting pulling on its skin.
This is what grooming means to me.
Not perfection.
Not judgment.
Helping dogs and helping the people who love them. β€οΈ
πΎ Grand Opening Update πΎ
I'm going to be completely honest with y'all because that's who I am.
I've decided to cancel the grand opening.
The event was reservation-based because I needed an accurate headcount to plan everything properly. I was preparing refreshments, activities, and making sure the environment stayed comfortable and safe for the dogs attending. Paws and Tings is built around giving dogs a calm, stress-free experience, not packing a bunch of dogs into one space at one time.
At the end of the day, only one person reserved a spot. I've already reached out to her personally and refunded her money.
I could still push forward and try to make it happen, but I've done that before. I've planned events, spent the money, put in the work, and had nobody show up. I'm not interested in putting myself through that again.
I genuinely appreciate everyone who shared the flyer, liked the posts, tagged friends, and supported the idea. Your support means a lot, even if you weren't able to attend.
The grand opening may be canceled, but Paws and Tings is open and operating. If you've been wanting to check out the shop, book an appointment and come see what we've built.
Thank y'all for understanding and for continuing to support my small business. πΎβ€οΈ

Tomorrow is the last day! THEN GRand opening sunday!
A little story time...
A while back, I had a dog grooming building of my own. I was excited, nervous, and proud. I planned a grand opening, bought supplies, got everything ready, and waited.
Nobody came.
I'm not gonna lieβit hurt. A lot.
Eventually, I lost that building, and for a while I wondered if maybe my dream just wasn't meant to work out.
But I kept going.
I kept bathing dogs. I kept grooming. I kept showing up for my clients. I kept believing in Paws & Tings even when things got hard.
Now, here I am again, getting ready for another grand opening.
This Sunday is more than just a Paint & Sip event. It's a celebration of not giving up when things don't go your way the first time.
For just $10, your dog will get their own painted canvas with their name on it, and you'll get a margarita made by yours truly. πΉπ¨πΎ
I'll also have cupcakes, dog treats, skin ointment, and cute dog apparel available for purchase.
I would genuinely love to see some familiar faces and some new ones too. If you've ever supported my business, shared a post, booked an appointment, recommended me to a friend, or simply cheered me on from the sidelinesβthank you.
And if you don't have plans this Sunday, I'd love for you to book a spot and come celebrate with us.
Because this time, I'm not giving up on the dream.
