Someone reading this has been holding their breath for weeks, bracing for the next hard thing. If that is you, here is your permission to exhale for a minute. You do not have to be on guard here. You do not have to earn your rest. For one hour on Sunday, you can set the weight down among people who are simply glad you came. Breathe. You made it this far.

Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles. (Isaiah 40) Waiting is not the same as wasting time. Something is being renewed in you even now, in the pause, in the in-between. Hold on.

Somebody reading this almost gave up on church for good. Maybe the last one made you feel like a problem to be managed instead of a person to be loved. If that is you, hear it clearly: you were never the problem. A room that only had space for the polished version of you was simply too small. There is a bigger table, and a seat at it with your name on it.

Do not be afraid, for I am with you. (Isaiah 41) Some version of that line is repeated all through scripture, maybe because it is what we most need to hear. Whatever you are walking into today, you are not walking into it alone.

When Jesus described the final judgment, the question was startlingly simple: did you feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, visit the prisoner? Not did you believe the right things, but did you love the overlooked. That is the faith we are trying to live here. Everyone means everyone, and love is meant to have hands.

This is the day the Lord has made. (Psalm 118) Not the perfect day, not the day you had planned, but this one, with all its mess. You are invited to find something good in it anyway. Rejoicing is a practice, and it can start with one small thing this morning.

If you have been carrying something heavy this week, you do not have to set it down in one dramatic moment. Sometimes faith is just making it to the next hour. You are allowed to take it slow, and you do not have to carry it where no one can see. There is a community here that would rather hold the weight with you than watch you pretend it is not there. Come as you are.
