We’ve coming to Monterey since 2020 to celebrate Kamaiu’s Birthday and to explore our hearts in the presence of ever changing grief. 💙
Much like the uniqueness of each wave that comes crashing along the shore , no two days are alike when navigating grief. Yes, they may be similar, but they are not the same.
And this trip was not the same as it had been before. Kamali has been to Monterey many times but this time she was old enough to make memories. ✨ And this was Amor-Ade’s 1st visit!! But perhaps, what was most profound to me about this year‘s trip, was the fact that we made new memories with our children in our arms in the very same location that our arms were once empty for what our hearts still held.
I also understand that It takes A LOT OF TIME and wisdom to learn that the path is wide enough to hold all of these memories and experiences. I consider myself blessed that I got a chance to learn this. And I’ll pay it forward by creating the conditions That allows other folks in grief to learn this as well. To God be glory! Massive love from out family to yours.

Since 2020 Felicia Gangloff-Bailey and I have been coming to Monterey To navigate our grief and to celebrate our love for our fist born, Kamaiu SOL.
This year coming to Monterey look like bringing her younger siblings . I’m still working through these feelings. But one thing for certain, we are incredibly blessed to be happy and well.

Happy 7th Birthday to our Angel baby & our first born, Kamaiu SOL. ✨
We miss and love you beyond the jurisdiction of words.
And when my feelings get most overwhelming, I remind myself that you’re always Near not Far.❤️
Your birth and double transitions changed your mother and I forever, and each day we work hard so that your love changes us for the better. On this journey navigating Loss, we’ve learned that you can be broken or broken open. Kamaiu, you broke us open, so that we may love more abundantly. Thank you my baby.
