The Intruder in a Box replicates the anatomical variation in material properties of the intended target. Panels of material simulating skin, muscle, bone, and internal organs are layered in the appropriate order to create a realistic platform for ammunition testing. Even we are frequently surprised.

Had a routine range trip today and wanted to try some new stuff.

On the top 2 rows, can you tell which load made it all the way through? Same bullet, 2 different calibers .45 nd 9mm).

Top row was 2 shots of a +p+ mid weight 9mm load in a subcompact pistol. The middle was 3 shots of 230 grain .45

Top left was a different 9mm we tested for a new batch of ammo against known data.

Subsonic 9mm on the bottom did fine in a carbine. 2 shots embedded in the bone and muscle sheet on the back and one just barely made it through the bone with minimal muscle damage.

As usual, they never look as pretty as they do in ballistics gel.
