HERE. WE. GEAUX.

The anticipation is over. First event of season is here. It’s the damn 2026 SUPER BOWL SCRAMBLE! 🏈 [Swipe for more details…]

Which team you got winning first tourney of year? Will anyone break record set last year (62) by Aaron Smith and Will Harris? How many teams will have to utilize max-triple-bogey rule? Did Dan Marino really hold the ball laces in for Ray Finkle’s missed Super Bowl field goal?

Either way, we want to remind all competitors to savor the golf this year, as we’ll be traveling from La. to L.A. next season for Super Bowl LXI (behind current Rookie of Year Tyler Shough). And to those not playing this weekend, we say, “The weather is here – we wish you were beautiful!”

See y’all Saturday! 💥

Last time we hosted the UC Cup:

- Coach O was head coach of LSU football
- ChatGPT hadn’t been invented
- UC pro shop and “restaurant” were operating from single trailer (new pro shop and remodeled clubhouse incomplete)
- TikTok was only 2 years old
- Scottie Scheffler began year ranked #31 in world
- Drake was Billboard’s Top Artist of Year (35 Hot 100 songs)
- Kim Mulkey had never coached a game for Lady Tigers (now 116-15 at LSU with National Title)
- Jay Johnson had never coached a baseball game at LSU (now 190-77 with 2 National Championships)
- Twitter hadn’t been renamed X
- LIV Golf didn’t exist (20 players from final top 50 that year later left for LIV)
- Current college freshmen hadn’t started high school
- Drew Brees threw final TD pass, #571 (2nd most all time)
- And Milli Vanilli hadn’t yet been exposed for lip syncing

Just kidding about last one (that was 1989). But for first time since 2021, UCGA is hosting UC Cup, pitting Purple vs. Gold for bragging rights and team supremacy.

Former UCGA President Tim Melancon will captain Team Purple, along with Vice Captains Greg Berthelot and John Schiller. Current President Chase Trichell will lead Team Gold with assistance from Vice Captains Billy Joe Tolliver and BG Lanoix.

Pairings reveal party will take place in clubhouse the Friday night before tourney. All participants will play 5 matches of 9 holes each (18 Saturday, 27 Sunday). You do not want to miss this one…

MEMBER-GUEST STARTS TODAY 🐅

3 months before LSU kicked off its undefeated season leading to 1958 National Championship, another champion was born “Down Da Bayou”… UC’s own Tim Melancon. And Tim shares MUCH in common with fellow athlete Billy Cannon, including a flare for the dramatic finish.

On his 67th birthday yesterday, Uncle T won the 2025 Super Senior Baton Rouge Open by ONE stroke over a stacked field, carding consecutive rounds of 70 to finish -4 through 36 holes.

Tim mowed down the defending champ, who had a 2-shot lead after an opening 68. Uncle T also warded off other UC legends, including Lindsay Spiller (3rd), Scott Haynie (T5th), Frank Schroeder (9th), and Ken Miller (11th).

CONGRATS TO THESE GENTLEMEN FOR REPPING UC SO ADMIRABLY. YOUR CLUB IS PROUD! 🏆 👏

❄️ FROZEN TIGERS 🐅

02/23/2024

What an awesome crossover event put on by the UCGA and LSU Men's Golf! The Tiger golfers exhibited exceedingly talented feats, while the UC members tried to hit shots without tripping over their own 2 feets. Our members focused on teaching the college golfers about patience (like waiting for member to hit 3 toe-cuts to catch the Tiger golfers' drives), while also exposing the Tiger players to portions of the course they've never seen before (like the sliver of land right of the water on #1, but not the road, aka IN BOUNDS @ haters).

UC was awash with camaraderie and team spirit... and rainwater. If the over-the-top divots are ever repaired, we'd love to do it again. Special thanks to Head Golfball Coach Andrew Nelson and Uncle Prezident Tim Melancon. From now on, the UCGA shall call itself "THE SIXTH MAN." 🤝 🐯 ☠️ ☄️🏌️

💜💚🦅🚨MARDI GRAS ACE ALERT🚨🦅💚💜

Congrats are in order (as are copious libations) for Billy Joe "Pawpaw" Tolliver, who holed the 171-yard 13th with a 7-iron today. This makes a dozen hole-in-ones for BJT, who has clearly played too many rounds of golf in his lifetime. Billy Joe's 12th hole-in-one breaks his previous personal record of 11 (and we suspect his 13th will likewise set a new career-high).

The other 3 individuals pictured had absolutely nothing to do with the hole-in-1️⃣ and you are to operate as though they have been rightfully cropped out.

GEAUX JEAUX! 🎯 And good luck on that bar tab 🎭

➡️ In anticipation of our biggest event of year (Member-Guest next week!), we rewind to one of most memorable moments in UCGA history.

During 2022 alternate shot shootout, honorary Louisianan and Las Vegas native Dan "Wretchy" Martin hit a perfect drive into par-5 11th fairway. But not even Wretchy could place odds on what happened next. From 211 yards with a gentle breeze in his face, our very own David "Dede" Lanoix HOLED OUT with a 6-iron for double eagle! Naturally, this duo went on to win tourney and will hail as defending champs at 2023 Member-Guest. Debaucheries commence next Thursday....... 🎲 🥂 🆘 🍿

Earlier this summer, we hosted the Granddaddy of 'Em All: The Stroke Play Club Championship. From the town of Outta-Left-Field, Louisiana, Nick Cristea braved the Saharan-esque elements to earn the distinction of 2023 club champion. Nick's steady play and elite ball-striking proved invaluable down the stretch. Congrats to this seasoned medal-play competitor. ✊

Our senior club champ is also no stranger to hoisting trophies. Kudos to Page Breaux, who reportedly hasn't missed a fairway or green since c. 2015. Well earned, PB!

Lastly but never leastly is our hyper-competitive super senior division. The 2023 victor is Sir Sam Godber, the Most Interesting Man at UC. Mr. Sam parlayed style, charisma, a well-manicured beard, and superior play to best a strong field of suitors.

[We also shoutout Drew Prieto for winning the very high-caliber 1st Flight at just 15-years-old! Kyle Ourso—whose game is getting stronger and stronger every year—prevailed in the 2nd Flight. And in a surprise to literally no one, the 3rd Flight was claimed by David Funes, the Pull-Cart King and least lazy man at UC, who out-stamina'd all challengers. Wear your crowns proudly, gentlemen! 👑]

🚨UC MAJOR ALERT🚨

If "bienvenu" means "welcome" in French, then BIENVENU TO THE THUNDERDOME. Your 2023 UC Member-Member champs are Mark Bienvenu and Austin (Un)Fairchild❕These mudders bested a star-studded field in what has been described as some of the wettest conditions since the Book of Genesis. Be sure to high-five these guys in the hallways!

Next up is the Stroke Play Club Championship the first weekend of June..... 🧨

This. Girl. Got. GAME. At only 12-years-old, UC's Maci Williams is making her own waves along the Gulf Coast golf scene. We congratulate this young superstar for being named 's Player of the Month. Well deserved—keep up the great work, ! 🌟
