One of Resolution Creative’s recent projects was for the Illinois DeafBlind Project. This organization provides technical assistance and training to address educational and transitional services to improve services and outcomes for children who are both deaf and blind. They work with both professionals and the families of these children.

My challenge was how to visualize the services and assistance provided. Some of the words and phrases that went through my mind were helping, serving. Since the organization works with the parents, I thought a heart might be appropriate, with hands to illustrate serving

In my design, which illustrates “serving or helping with love,” the hands are stylized, enveloping the heart in a way that illustrates protection and care. The curve of the hands also add some motion to the graphic, creating a visual interest.

In designing a logo that is effective, it needs to be unique, but still legible. My client is happy with the logo, which is giving the organization a polished visual image.

New Year, new website.
Lisa Youngdahl of Resolution Creative redesigned the website of the Congregational Church of Batavia.

The new site is better organized, making information easier to find for both members and new visitors. It is inviting, with engaging images of the historic church, messaging, and focusing on welcoming all.

Do you have a lot of information but a small budget? You can present a lot of information in a trifold brochure. In the brochure I designed for the Congregational Church of Batavia, we included their children and youth programs, involvement in social justice, that the church is open and affirming, and the ministries the church supports. All presented in a way that is easy to read and understand, and appealing.

Very happy to work for a church where I create social media such as this.

June 3 is National Gun Violence Day in the US. People all across the country are invited to wear orange, the international color for caution.

You're invited to wear orange to church June 5 as a statement of remembrance for past victims of gun violence as well as to call for a reduction in gun violence which is up 34% from a year ago. Just in the past two weeks there have been two shootings that have claimed 31 lives and captured the media. We have seen 37 school shootings in recent weeks. Tell our leaders that something must be done to stop the carnage. Wear orange to say "enough."
