Today's the day! Our building addition is ready for its "soft open" and we're so excited for you to see it. Visit the library during our regular hours to explore our new spaces as we work towards completing the final touches.
Today, we're also hosting the Library of Congress's National Ambassador for Young People's Literature: acclaimed author Mac Barnett! These events are by-registration through Island Readers & Writers and will take place at 4:00pm and 6:00pm.

This Thursday, we look forward to welcoming John K. Delaney for a presentation about his past past career as a scientific communicator at The Bronx Zoo and The New York Aquarium and his new career as a naturalist and scientific illustrator. John will also discuss his artistic process. This event will be held in-person and online on Thursday, May 21st at 5:30pm. Registration is encouraged!

Our final Music & Conversation program for this year will take place on Thursday, May 14th at 5:30pm and feature violinist and composer Jennifer Curtis. Jennifer currently teaches violin at Duke University, performs regularly with the North Carolina Symphony, and plays on a 1777 Vincenzo Panormo violin.

The League of Women Voters and Mount Desert Islander are hosting a candidates' forum for the upcoming Bar Harbor election today, Monday, May 11th at 6pm, at the Jesup Memorial Library. Register to attend in-person or online via Zoom. This event will be recorded and a recording will be shared on the library's website.

The day is finally here! We're so excited to welcome scholar Emily Austin for her talk, "Epicurus and Managing Political Anxiety," for the 9th Annual Paul Hammond Memorial Lecture.
