FILM ON BALTIMORE’S BLACK, Q***R IDENTITY TO PREMIERE AT THE SNF PARKWAY THEATRE

BALTIMORE, MD – The Rooted Collective, a local organization that develops programming and events for Black LGBTQ people in Baltimore, is pleased to announce the premiere of Damn Y’all Fine (2025), a documentary film about Baltimore’s Black, q***r aesthetic. Directed by Ti Malik Coleman and Dr. Kalima Young, Damn Y’all Fine is a journey into the self-stylings of Baltimore’s Black, q***r and trans artists and activists, and explores how living in Baltimore influences the way Black, q***r and trans people express their gender and sexual identities. Several local community members are featured in the film.

Dr. Kalima Young, a professor of electronic media and film at Towson University and co-director of Damn Y’all Fine, remarks: “this film is a labor of love and discovery. I have learned so much about myself and my fellow q***rs in the making of it. It is my hope that audiences leave the film feeling the same way.”

The film shares a diversity of stories and reflections about what it means to be both Black and LGBTQ in Baltimore, and reveals the unique beauty and personal innovation found in this community. Ti Malik Coleman, a co-director of Damn Y’all Fine, considers this film to be a love letter to the people and city of Baltimore.

“I want people to watch this movie and see themselves the way I see them–fine and perfect the way they are. Baltimore has loved me so much, I just wanted to love the city back.”

Damn Y’all Fine premieres on October 11 at the SNF Parkway Theatre. Doors open at 7pm for a pre-show reception. Tickets are free. Due to high demand, additional tickets have been recently released, however, space is limited. To secure your tickets, visit damnyallfine.eventbrite.com.
