A bit of Halethorpe Pharmacy history. One of our longtime customers dropped this picture off at the pharmacy today. We think it is from the 1960s. Our sponsoring little league teams continues to today. The older guy to the left is the former owner Doc Alexander. Can you identify anyone else?

I have had many concerned calls and even customers standing at my pharmacy counter crying thinking they no longer have a choice in their pharmacist.

Halethorpe Pharmacy and Independent Drug, my two pharmacies, as well as virtually all independent pharmacies in Maryland ARE PARTICIPATING PHARMACIES in the Caremark pharmacy insurance network.

The confusion is the new insurance is a division of CVS Health called Caremark who also owns CVS Pharmacies. There is a big CVS logo on the new card. The cards arrived with a multipage benefits booklet. If you read the booklet cover to cover you will find the small section that says you can use the insurance at any participating pharmacy. If you blink you will miss it.

Halethorpe Pharmacy is named Best Pharmacy in the USA

Please see attached notification and award. The award presentation was an awesome day for my staff and me. My employees rock!

You just never know how you are going to touch someone's life. A customer came into one of my pharmacies the other day. English is not her first language. For those of you that don't know, I have travelled all over the world and been in this woman's shoes, figuratively of course. I emphasize to my staff the importance of treating everyone the same. It is an easy sell. The employees I get to work with are truly stellar individuals with gigantic hearts. How many bosses can say that?

In spite of the language barrier my staff went to work, figured out what she needed and took care of her. This is the everyday caring of my awesome staff. Several days after this customer's initial visit she came back to the pharmacy with the gift and note pictured. It is a basket full of snacks from her native Korea. Words cannot describe the joy this kind gesture brought this small business owner and his staff. I am proud of the team we have at Halethorpe Pharmacy and Independent Drug. They make our communities better places.

Great meeting County Executive Kamenetz at the Baltimore County Senior Volunteers luncheon last week where Halethorpe Pharmacy and Independent Drug were recognized as Business Partner of the Year. Awesome to be in a room with the volunteers in our community. These individuals are one of the many parts of what makes our community so wonderful. I am proud to be part of this community. Thank you Baltimore County for this recognition.
