Love the gel stains and varnishes. Customer service is poor, since I have never received answers to emailed questions.
I have built 10 or so kits purchased from the old Bartley Furniture Company.

I have the "Thomas Harland Tall Case Clock" kit in Cherry for sale if anyone is interested in buying it. It is in four boxes, 3 are unopened and banded, the fourth is the clock mechanical box that was opened by the salesperson at the Bartley collection location in Maryland. The box is open but the clock works are sealed in some sort of plastic. It was kept inside of our house since I purchased it in 2004. I had big plans to build it because it is such a beautiful clock and I lived 20 miles from Norwich Connecticut which is where Thomas Harland had his shop. I had an 18th century colonial home at the time that it would have looked beautiful in. After finishing up my military duty in Dover Delaware, I returned home with both a new wife and new baby. We have since moved to a smaller antique home and I have no plans to ever build it. Please let me know if anybody here or anybody you know is interested in this clock kit.
Years ago I purchased kit #0073, a small Georgian style 3 drawer chest. I never assembled it, but now i want to but can't find the instructions. It's too complex to assemble without them. Does someone have a copy of #0073 instructions?

Hi there, my boyfriend came home with 6 factory sealed boxes that were shipped in 1983 but never opened. We have no idea what is in the boxes. Here are some of the model numbers: BHET0808, BHCF0807, QACT03??, QACT0302, CC0011. All of the boxes are in excellent condition. It's like Christmas, lol. Anyone have any info on what these might be?
Will you be offering the larger furniture kits?
I just put this table together. My dad purchased this Tuckaway table in 1988 and never did it. It is such a sweet petite table. Do you still sell this or anything similar to it?

Sometimes a beautiful small box can warm the heart. This Irish Jewelry Chest with its decorative escutcheon may just do it. The parts shown are Curly Maple (lightly wetted to show the grain). The photograph shows the box in cherry. The drawing shows you to can build this box.

If this box doesn't warm your heart, well spring is coming and it surly will.

Baynebox Bartley now provides the Pennsylvania Dower Chest with a dovetail jointed carcass much like the 18th century chests. One picture shows the kits carcass parts and the other is that sent to baynebox by one of the first clients to take on the challenge of dovetailed dowers chest. We are appreciative of the picture and would like to say GREAT JOB.

Have you stocked up on the Bartley Gel Stain for this year's projects?

I see again and again how people wait to buy their Gel
Stains until they are nearly finished a project, meaning they have to wait for their shipment before they can put the finishing touches on a project kit.

BOY! It has been so busy. We are working daily to come up with more efficient methods to create kits without decreasing quality and actually trying to improve quality in all that we create.
One of our modern worlds dilemmas is getting good width in lumber, so we spend much time selecting and matching wood for density of wood grain, character of the wood pattern and color of wood, in order to get very pleasing matches for glued up wide panels. A big help in this process is having a reliable and consistent source for quality hardwoods. O’Shea Lumber and its team fits the bill. Thank you O’Shea and your team for your dedication to supplying quality hardwoods!

Simple & Small Can Be Beautiful Too
The Colonial Candle Box is a great kit for all. It is also a great way to get started with furniture kit building and finishing if you have not yet experienced the joy of woodworking. This is also a great kit for introducing children to woodworking and the skills that accompany it. While many of us may have no need for storing candles, you will find this box can be used for many purposes. The sliding lid closes the box without any hardware and children love to examine how it works.

The pictures show a Cherry finished box and unfinished kits of the Colonial Candle Box in Walnut, Cherry and Curly Maple.

One of BayneBox Bartley's customers sent us pictures of the Pennsylvania Dower Chest that he recently received and immediately went to work on. The Dower Chest is constructed of curly maple. Paul contacted me and shared his finishing method which I will summarize. Paul used aniline dye which he applied then sanded off and reapplied until he achieved the contrast he desired. He finished off the chest using Bartley's Clear Gel.
GREAT JOB PAUL! I am proud to show off your craftsmanship and thank you for the time you took to give me a call and share the great experience you had building and finishing your Pennsylvania Dower Chest.
Thanks again Paul.
Don Bayne

PS - I would invite all to comment and congratulate Paul for the great job.

James Mohr built and finished BayneBox.com / Bartley’s Irish Jewelry Chest kit as a presentation gift.
Many of the Naval Veterans of the USS MYLES C. FOX Destroyer meet annually for a reunion.
The USS MYLES C. FOX was commissioned in 1945; she served tours in Vietnam and the Dominican Republic and
was deployed to back up landing sites for the NASA program. The destroyer was decommissioned in 1979.
During the 2017 reunion, Mohr presented the Irish Jewelry Chest to the wife of one of the group’s veterans
who works behind the scenes to make sure the reunions are a great success.
Thank you to all of our veterans, and, thank you, James Mohr for allowing us to share your reunion.
BayneBox.com is proud to be a small part of this Veterans group’s 2017 annual reunion.

This picture shows a way to extend the reach of your clamps.
In this picture the mid molding is being clamped to the face of
the Pennsylvania Dowers Chest.
Try this; I think you will find it helpful.

Years ago while building some of Bayne's larger custom projects I needed a little diversion from the job at hand and purchased my first furniture kit. Yes a furniture maker bought a
Windsor side chair kit. Assembling the chair, making some modifications and finishing the chair did the trick for me.
All the necessary machining was done (as I mentioned I made a few modifications that I feel improved the lines of the chair and made it look closer to the antique Windsors I studied before my purchase) and all I used from my shop was a work bench and a few clamps. I got relief from the day to day tasks and was able to reclaim the feelings of a young cabinetmaker finishing a task.
To give my chair the feeling of age, I allowed the tenons of the legs to extend slightly through the seat, much like the antiques I had observed. This slight projection through the seat and the bow back combined with gently easing the edges of the tenons mimicked the shrinking and wear of years of service.
Then came the finish. Careful distressing of areas that would have naturally received wear helped add to the illusion of age.
Using first a green coat of paint followed by black and then going through the wear trough process again building the illusion age.

I can't say that after this experience I decided to get involved with a kit company. But when the time came, it was the memory of this experience that I hoped to be able to share with others, by trying to save the legacy of the Bartley Collection and founding BayneBox.com. (Just a little sales pitch, that is what the marketers say I need to do)

I an attaching a photo of the large project of that time, which I mentioned, and a few photos of the chair.

Hope you enjoy,
Don
