Our Story

Str8 Hype is your #1 source for Hyped / Limited Apparel and Sneakers in the DMV. It was born through a Father and Son’s passion for fashion. It started 4 years ago when Dad opened a brick and mortar sneaker consignment shop in Downtown Baltimore, Maryland that was vandalized and burglarized during the 2015 Baltimore Riots which would ultimately prove to be crippling eventually resulting in the doors closing just 3 years after their initial opening in 2014.

Fast forward 18 months later the son Kai is now an 11-year-old youtuber and entrepreneur selling his graphical design work on twitter with a natural love for streetwear brands like A Bathing Ape, Supreme, and Jordan Brand. Dad has been buying and selling sneakers since 2003, so naturally he continued selling part time on platforms such as eBay, Facebook, craigslist, etc. Over time Kai gained interest in that as well, learning how to spot fakes, staying up on releases dates, helping restore used kicks for resell, and scouring marketplaces to find steals.

After reflecting one night and talking to his son, Dad realized that he had found his perfect business partner… his 5th grade son! So, Kai went to work on the logos and banners, Dad bought up some inventory (leveraging his monthly allowance of course.) and they started their website www.str8hype.com , a safe place for the inner Hypebeast in all of us!
