Giving my surgeon, Dr. James Nace some positive publicity.

He made a really bleak experience with hip revision surgery seem like another day in the office, with hope at the end of the tunnel.

8 week check up today and he’s very pleased with progress. Within 8 weeks is usually when problems can resurface, but I’m outside of that window.

While I’m not walking without a limp yet, this is far above the normal recovery timeline.

He said I have no restrictions but need to follow the 10% rule:

- for example, if you walk for 30 minutes one day, and you feel fine the next day, increase it by 10%.
- if you do 3 sets of 10 of an exercise without issue, next time do 3 sets of 11.
- if you eat 2 chicken breasts…eat a 3rd

Okay the last one is not true…but Jim Milbrandt knows that last tip will pack on mass.

That’s a great guide for me, because I really want this cement hip to last a long time.

If you have any joint replacement needs (I hope you don’t), I highly recommend him.

Submission Escapes by

1. No matter how tough you are, if you get caught in a choke, you’re going out!

2. Don’t panic! Don’t rip out of a submission. It usually makes it tighter.

3. You must give people a reason to stop doing what they’re doing.

4. Make your opponent uncomfortable for trying to submit you.

5. Most people have about 20 seconds of squeezing in their arm strangles.

6. If a technique fails, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. It means that you’re bad at doing it.

7. Be patient escaping and try more than once.

8. Don’t be fooled. The Achilles lock can injure your shin.

9. If you stay stabilized, you’re in try.

10. Forget everything else you’re doing and focus on escaping.
