From the Director of Youth Education Captain Richard D. Smothers:

Unfortunately my tenure as the Director of Youth Education is over, I have been ask to retire from the Baltimore City Fire Department. The reason behind my departure has been said to be a budgetary decision, by department officials.

As of July 1, 2013 I will no longer be serving your recruitment needs. Even though some may think this is a good thing. I would hope those of you I was able to serve had a good experience.

I was deeply sadden by this decision, and will miss helping those of you who wanted to connect with staff willing to help you in the recruitment process.

For your information and base on the information I received from fire department management, recruitment will be handled by the Baltimore City Fire Academy located at 6720 Pulaski Hwy, Baltimore MD 21239.

Deputy Chief Paul Moore or Chief Mark Zimmerman, is your point of contact, you should call 410-396-9984 to receive further information.

It is my hope that the department will continue to help all people who are interested in working in the Baltimore City Fire Department, to obtain information, and are given an opportunity to speak with staff concerned with making available to you the right information that will help you in the pursuit of a great career.
