Baltimore Bluegrass Jam tonight with 🪕at The Green Room in Hampden (just below )
⌚️7-10pm
✨Everyone is welcome to play tunes and sing some songs.
The Baltimore Bluegrass Jam is happening tomorrow 3.17 at The Green Room just below in Hampden. Our last guest was Jon Glik, heard in this video playing “Soldier’s Joy”.
Malia Furtado will be tomorrow there playing fiddle! She’s picked “Growling Old Man and the Grumbling Old Woman” as our tune of the week.
Jam happens from 7-10pm. All are welcome to jam. Come hang with your friends.
Constance is the name of this tune. and I performed it for the first time this past weekend at our duo show put on by the lovely folks of the .
I named this melody after my Grandmother who is 92 and has always been a huge supporter of my music career. She was in the room for the first time I heard a trumpet, and then later the first time I heard the upright bass. She sent me music books and CDs over the years, took me to a jazz music camp, and we’ve talked about music education together for decades now. My grandmother is a clarinet player, a music educator and worked tirelessly for decades to get instruments into the hands of kids in public schools all around South Carolina.
Around two years ago I had to learn Joni Mitchell’s “The Circle Game” for a wedding. As I was working on it I found this guitar tuning CGDGBD and was in entranced by it and essentially left this guitar in that tuning for the better part of half a year.
With this guitar tuned as such, working on finger picking, constantly writing melodies, plus an immense gratitude for all the support my grandmother this melody was born.
