Welcome to Baltimore’s New Home for Workforce Services. Reservoir Square. Coming Fall 2026. We heard from residents who wanted workforce services to be easier to access. That’s exactly what Reservoir Square is designed to do.

This fall, more career services, training opportunities, hiring events, and community partners will come together under one roof, creating a more connected experience for Baltimore job seekers and employers.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll take you inside the new American Job Center and answer your biggest questions about what’s changing, what’s staying the same, and what to expect before we open our doors. We’re so excited for you to come along with MOED on this new chapter!

First Line Strategies is honored and proud to be a community partner with Langston Hughes Community, Business and Resource Center (LHCBRC) Youth Educational Services, Inc.

Youth Education Services(YES) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that was founded by George E. Mitchell in 2017 in hopes of creating equitable access to educational services through libraries in the park heights community at Langston Hughes Community, Business and Resource Center (LHCBRC). In the first few years, we were successful in opening (3) libraries within the facility that provided books and resources for youth, adolescents and seniors. As the center continued to engage the community, we worked to address additional needs such as food, clothing, mental health, child care, substance abuse, education and employment needs by partnering with community stakeholders to provide wrap-a-round support and services within the facility.

"Why Men are More Susceptible to Substance Abuse"

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA), 7.7% of Americans (19.3 million) had a substance use disorder as of 2019. Of those people, 2 in 5 struggled with illicit drugs, 3 in 4 struggled with alcohol, and 1 in 9 struggled with both. Of those numbers, 11.5% of males aged 12 and over have a substance use disorder, compared to 6.4% of women and girls.

In other words, the number of men struggling with substance abuse is nearly double that of women. There is a bright spot. Men tend to have greater success in recovery, with fewer incidents of relapsing.
