GAPS takes the viewer/reader on a ride through the chaos of healing. Thirty-eight pages of disarmingly colorful and playful imagery, accompanied by sections of prose, expose a not-uncommon experience of trauma and slow discovery. This book incorporates a variety of screenprint, relief print and linocut.

Three women - Marie, Daisy, and Elizabeth - lent us their voices. . . When paired with black and white photographs of street scenes, city locations, and suburban neighborhoods, they create an overall quality of vulnerability and human presence. Each picture captures a location in a woman's arrest record. The photographs ask us to think about what happened in those places." 🔦 Special Collections Spotlight!

Title: Pathogenesis
Book Artist: Todd Thyberg

"This book as object looks at gun violence in America through the lens of disease. Pathogenesis is the process by which a disease or disorder develops. It can include factors which contribute not only to the onset of the disease or disorder, but also to its progression and maintenance. The pathogenic mechanisms of a disease (or condition) are set in motion by the underlying causes, which if controlled would allow the disease to be prevented. There are six hexagonal pages for each phase. Each of these pages are illustrated with images for that particular phase and overprinted with the underlying causes or pathogens. 42 pages including colophon. The book is bound in a 3-D printed pathogen with a bullet casing tray to hold the pages together. The binding is hand-painted and fitted with four different caliber slugs"

Title: Shadow Play
Book Artist: Ann Kresge

The six shadow puppets are on sticks and fastened to the inside of the four-flap portfolio with velcro. The stage, fastened to the base of the portfolio, is a tunnel book made with translucent paper. The accompanying accordion-style booklet describes the puppets and encourages play.
"Produced by the artist in her studio, Mossybrook Press, in High Falls, N.Y., and at WSW in Rosendale, N.Y. The poems are by Melinda Kennedy and the other text was collaboratively written."
An edition of 125.

Title: E Unum Pluribus
Book Artist: Slavko Djuric

"E unum pluribus (Many within One) is a set of unbound prints composed from 20 linocuts overprinted in numerous press runs. While their visual likeness suggests interconnectedness, each print exists as a part of an undefinable whole. The viewer is invited to explore these connections by assembling them in any desired order."

Decker Library Summer Hours!

The library is open this Saturday May 9th from 1-4pm for returns.

From May 11th to July 10th the library will be Monday through Friday 12-4pm.
From July 12th to August 21st the library will be open Monday through Thursday 10am-5pm and Fridays 10am-4pm.

Semester hours will commence Monday August 24th, first day of Fall classes.
