What I’m doing differently
-more seeds in each tray
-a much lighter layer of soil on top
-almost no watering and I added a moisture dome to keep from drying and retain heat
More blooms and more benefits.
Asters are a much better plant ecologically and visually.

My first year trying out Symphyotrichum novae-angliae (New England Aster) and I’ve learned a lot about it.
Can handle shade better then I expected
Fairly leggy
More of a bush then your typical flowering perennial like coneflower or allium
Handles pruning very well
Minimal care (I have never hand watered it)
Excellent blooms and later season pollinator benefits
Water and patience when transplanting. The plant will be fine as long as you have both. ‼️Results may vary if you only half one of those.
You either learn from experience or from others.
Plants are cool.
