Multi-Agency Traffic Operation Targets Street Takeovers in Azusa

The Azusa Police Department Traffic Bureau joined regional law-enforcement partners on Sunday, September 13, 2026, for a coordinated operation targeting illegal street takeovers and other dangerous driving activity in Azusa.

The operation resulted in:
-61 traffic stops
-34 citations
-Two arrests
-One vehicle impounded

The operation included personnel from the Azusa Police Department, Baldwin Park Police Department, Lancaster Police Department, Alhambra Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and Azusa Code Enforcement.

Street takeovers are not harmless gatherings. Reckless driving, exhibitions of speed, and other dangerous vehicle activity place participants, spectators, nearby residents, and uninvolved motorists at risk of serious injury or death.

The Azusa Police Department will continue working with its regional partners to address illegal street takeovers and keep our streets safe.

This morning, members of the Azusa Police Department joined the Azusa Rotary Club, City of Azusa, community members, veterans, and fellow first responders for the 11th Annual Field of Glory Opening Ceremony at Azusa City Hall.

The ceremony provided an opportunity to come together as a community to remember the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, honor the heroes who answered the call that day, and recognize the veterans, active-duty military members, and first responders who continue to serve and protect our communities.

Hundreds of American flags now proudly cover the front lawn of Azusa City Hall, each serving as a powerful symbol of remembrance, sacrifice, and gratitude. The Field of Glory will remain on display through September 21, and we encourage our community to visit and walk among the flags. Thank you to the Azusa Rotary Club, the City of Azusa, and everyone who helped make this meaningful tribute possible.
