Tonight I got to promote Kim to Blue Belt, and this one means a lot.

Kim has been with us for years. Honestly, it feels like she’s been part of MetchenFit Jiu Jitsu since the beginning. Through all the classes, changes, growth, and different seasons of the gym, she has just continued to show up.

And if you know Kim, you know she is unapologetically Kim. 😂

She’ll be the first person to tell you about her quirks, and that’s honestly one of the things we love about having her around. She might walk toward a room, realize there are way too many people in there, immediately turn around and decide, “Nope, not today.” 😂 But she’ll also quietly help clean up the gym, organize the back room, stock the refrigerators, and do a hundred little things that nobody ever asked her to do.

That says a lot about the kind of person she is.

She has been incredibly loyal to our program, and I love that after all these years she still wants to come in, suffer through Warrior 25 with us, put on the Gi, train Jiu Jitsu, learn, and keep getting better.

Belts are obviously about Jiu Jitsu skill, but to me they also represent time, consistency, and perseverance.

Kim has earned every bit of this one.

More importantly, she is exactly the kind of genuinely good person we seek and want more of in our gym. We are blessed to have her around.

Congratulations, Kim, on your Blue Belt. 💙

Very well deserved. We’re lucky to have you.

Over 12 MFers on the mats tonight, putting in work in the Gi! 🥋💪
Learning new skills, solving problems, getting caught, making adjustments, and getting better together.
No egos. No shortcuts. Just a room full of people who keep showing up and challenging each other.
This is what building something special looks like.
Proud of this crew. 🔥

First varsity action of the season and one thing is for sure…

He wasn’t jogging down on kickoff. 😂🔥

Every rep. Every sprint. Every opportunity.

Run like somebody is trying to take it from you.

Run through the finish line.

Then when you think you’re moving fast enough…

remember Mo Greene’s shoes were literally on fire. 🔥👟

Keep stacking reps. Keep earning opportunities. Keep getting faster.

One step closer.

Game 3 finally brought his first varsity action of the season.

He got out there on kickoff and got a couple snaps at receiver. I could tell he wanted it. He was flying on the field.

Was it a huge night statistically? No.

But after watching him work, wait, and stay patient, it was pretty damn cool just seeing him step onto that field.

I’m proud of the opportunity, but I’m even more proud of how he has handled the process.

Keep showing up.
Keep giving your best effort.
Keep working when nobody is watching.
And when you finally get a little taste of what you’ve been working for, don’t get satisfied.

This is not the destination.

It’s one step closer to where he needs to be.

Proud of you, son. Now get back to work. 🐻🏈

Instruction → drilling → live problem solving.

Tonight our Teen Class took what they learned and tested it through live situational games.

That’s where the real learning starts.

We don’t just teach techniques and hope they remember them. We put them in specific situations where they have to recognize the position, understand their job, make a decision, and solve the problem against real resistance.

Learn it.
Drill it.
Test it.
Adjust.
Repeat.

That’s how skill actually develops.

Our goal isn’t to create kids who can memorize Jiu Jitsu moves.

We want them to become grapplers who can think.
