Run, walk, trot, bring a stroller, bring your dog, family event!

I have a challenge for you!

This week, I attended the funeral of Mary Vogle, an 89-year-old retired Azle ISD school nurse and Navy veteran. Mary faithfully cared for countless children as they passed through the elementary school where she served.

As I looked over her table of memories, something caught my eye: an Azle Lake Run medal from 2023 with a FIRST-PLACE slider! Mary was an avid runner, and at age 86, she completed the 5K with the help of her family. WOW!

Mary loved God, her family, the Azle community, this country, and the life she was blessed to live. She left a legacy of love and a beautiful example of serving others.

The Azle Lake Run is so much more than a race. It is an opportunity to support and celebrate YOUR community. It is a time to give back, have fun, and be active together.

I hear so many people say, “But I don’t run.”

That’s fine! Neither do I anymore. I bet Mary didn't run her last Azle Lake Run either.

You can walk, trot, jog, skip, hop, push a stroller, bring your dog, or even run! Just don’t miss the opportunity to come together in unity with your community.

The event is filled with families of ALL ages. You will experience the goodness of our Lord through prayer and music. Our young people also take an active role by cheering everyone on. Thank you, Azle Christian School cheerleaders! The Azle Marching Green Pride plays along the route, and last year, a third-grade class sang the National Anthem.

In the spirit and memory of Mary Vogle, and of all those who have loved and served Azle so faithfully, come support your community in a fun, healthy, and God-glorifying way!
