I don't have a video but here is an example of the knock down method that is describing in a video recently. It's an old method I learned doing paper faced glass mosaics in the early 2000s and is still a valuable asset in the workplace nowadays. You can get full coverage on your mosaics with minimal squeeze out in the grout joints. You take a 1/8x1/8 or 1/4x1/4 whatever achieves the end results of full coverage you're going for and simply knock down the ridges from the trowel to form a uniform flat surface but leaving a setting bed for the tiles.
