Today's work involves removing a post oak that received a lightning strike years ago. The xylem has decayed while the cambium is living, making the tips heavy with decay as support. Several obstacles but we have what it takes.

Come on folks! You think because someone wears a nice shirt and presents themselves as a professional tree company with a low price is acceptable think again. This company is new in the area. They left these trees in horrible shape, they will not recover from this mutilation. This is what we refer to as "lion tailing"! This is an extreme case. All interior structural growth has been removed. Not acceptable folks!!!!

K folks time to climb up on my soap box. Let's butcher our trees so that our solar panels get the most sunlight. WTH folks! This type of pruning is lion tailing at it's worst. Lion tailing is an improper pruning method. The poor post oak trees will grow a substantial amount of secondary growth. Secondary growth is a response growth from stress. What's the stress factor? This lion tailing is so bad that it will be a declining factor.

Have your trees suddenly died? Most likely they have been declining for some time. I try to explain to folks it takes years sometimes to see the results of damage. In this case construction years ago caused this damage. Add to the construction damage, over watering and the tree gave up. It does not matter if it was 30 years ago, trees do not recover well from damage.
