Pomegranate trees are drought tolerant. Fruit is already the size of a baseball.

There was two woodpeckers on this tree! Their red head makes it easy to track them.

Praying mantis are the best. They seem so curious and eat all sorts of pests💕

When you don’t get any rain, you can leave the peas on the vine to dry without any worries of mold. Celebrating the small wins. Seeds for next year🎉

This has been a slow year for passionflower vine. I was happy to see this variegated fritillary caterpillar had enough to eat to transform in this cool looking chrysalis.

This drought has been hard on the insects too. I water some areas with overhead sprinklers. I watch the pollinators drink from the water droplets on leaves. This 5 gallon bucket collected water and was visited all day by bees and wasps. When it dried up I refilled it for them💕

Natives update… Crazy how some rain can make the blooms POP. St John’s Wort, Wild Petunia, and Black Eyed Susan’s.

Veggie update…. Tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini are doing great. Lots of zucchini zoodles being enjoyed by me and groans from the kids, ha. My first time growing a variegated pepper. Very cool, thanks Dwight!

This proud Mom had two graduates this year. I’ll now have 2 in middle school and one off to Clemson🎉. Going from 4 schools to 2 local schools should give me more time for plants! (Photo credits of Wando High School)
