The Alaska Highway has stunned. ✨

💡I highly recommend adding this to your roadtrip bucket list!

These photos were only my faves. There are hundreds. Every mile of this road is unbelievable. Thank you to all of you who have supported our journey thus far. Every like, comment, and share goes a long way! We appreciate the love! 🥰

📍Ēäy Chù (Slims River) valley at the southern tip of Kluane Lake in the Yukon, Canada

What you see isn’t dust. It’s glacial flour.

This is one of my faves, mostly because of the story. It’s about 25 mi from Destruction Bay. It experiences intense dust storms due to a unique environmental phenomenon:

In 2016 the retreating Kaskawulsh Glacier caused a rare event known as river piracy where the glaciers melt water suddenly redirected away from the Slims River and began flowing south instead leaving a massive mile wide river bed completely dry!! And this happened over DAYS, not years. The now exposed valley floor is covered in thick layers of loose loess, fine powdered glacial silt hundreds of thousands of years old!

How cool is that?!

📍Historic Mile 1061.4 Turnout

We had lunch here. Views in all directions. To the left. The amazing lakeshore.. to the right, the glacier flour of the precious two photos.

Crazy how fast the view changes.

The rest of the photos were literallly snapped driving The Alcan. Random roadside snapshots. We didn’t hike anyplace special to get these. This is just the Alaska Highway.

Seriously. Best. Drive. Ever.

The Southwest US always had my heart. Every bend has more beautiful red rock and waterfalls, arches and lakes. BUT then, we drove The Alaska Highway. The entire drive makes you feel tiny. The mountains are just imposing, breathtaking in their enormity. I have such a hard time editing these images because they just don’t need anything to be beautiful.
