Behind the design: a bunk room that proves kids’ spaces can be playful, practical, and beautifully designed.

We love creating spaces that feel special for little ones while still feeling cohesive with the rest of the home. Here, custom built-in bunk beds are finished in a warm neutral tone and framed by traditional wall paneling, creating a tailored look with plenty of character. Floor-to-ceiling drapery adds softness and privacy, while light oak flooring brings warmth and natural texture. Layered bedding in soft blues, sage greens, and delicate patterns keeps the room playful without feeling overly themed, and a sculptural accent stool adds an organic touch to finish the space.

Fall is here and we’re reminiscing on this project 🤎

Throwback to the behind the scenes of Curated Contemporary. Completed in Winter 2024 for clients relocating their lives from Austin back to New York, this project gave us the rare opportunity to custom design every furnishing, lighting fixture and wall covering from the ground up, with each piece of art thoughtfully curated by our team and several works commissioned specifically for the space.

We spent those weeks on site through a few team birthdays just before Thanksgiving, watched the first snow of the season fall over the city, and felt every bit of the full circle moment after years spent living and working in New York ourselves. A look back at how it all came together.

Seven years of Lana at MID. 🤍

Lana trained as an architect and worked in Miami before moving into interior design, and that background shows. Her command of proportion and scale is unlike anyone else’s.

She’s a true leader on our team, always keeping a close eye on budget while making sure every design reflects what our clients need and wish for. Her dedication to the work is unmatched.

Thank you for seven incredible years, Lana. Here’s to many more. ✨

Modern Mediterranean coming to life on install day. ✨

This project has been such a joy from the very first moodboard, and seeing it all come together in the space made every decision feel worth it!

Progress Update: The Tailored Cottage 🏡

This one has been such a fun build to watch come together, and this week’s progress is proof the details are really starting to shine.

From the drop in shower taking shape to the fireplace framing that’s about to anchor the whole living space, every piece is falling into place with intention.

Custom builds are all about these in between moments, watching raw materials turn into a home with real character. More updates coming as The Tailored Cottage continues to take shape.

From moodboard to reality: this room was designed around ease, comfort, and a little bit of whimsy. ✨

Designed in 2024 as part of a modern family home, this space was created with a young one in mind, soft, calming tones paired with cozy textures that feel warm without losing that elevated touch. We custom designed every fixed finish in the room, along with all furnishings, art, and accessories, integrating a few existing pieces along the way.

The result is a space that feels just as thoughtful and beautiful as the rest of the home, built to grow with them.

Behind the design: proof that a kids’ bathroom can be just as bold and fun as it is functional.

We love designing bathrooms because every detail gets to work double duty. Here, twelve inch raised cabinets create the perfect clearance to tuck a stool underneath, so little ones can easily reach the sink on their own. A honed white marble shower keeps the space balanced against the periwinkle blue walls and playful pink marble floor, while a CB2 scalloped polished nickel mirror and Hudson Valley sconces add the perfect touch of sparkle!
