Poster design for the ATX Open Professional Women’s Tennis. 🎾 The entire team behind this event is world-class, and have been a pleasure to work with at every stage. My family and I have loved watching in both singles and doubles. I never thought I’d see play - that was a neat gift to share with my wife and daughters. Here’s a bit about the artwork (more pics and deets later):
ATXOPEN is constructed through typographic forms inspired by architectural concrete, steel, and court geometry, balanced against the tactile softness of rackets, balls, and nets. The composition celebrates tennis, where rigid structure meets explosive athleticism and boundaries are constantly redefined.

For ‘s here in Austin recently. Seeing so many friends attend was beautiful. A little about the piece entered:
Typographic shapes inspired by organic architecture and Bauhaus to create a unique, text-based artwork on a minimalist Porsche 911 plaster model. The letters spell APSE, my artist moniker, taken from the architectural dome feature most often seen in cathedrals. The name embodies the perspective that each unique canvas is a collaborator in and recipient of the final art.

A monolith of instant torque. Geometric lines blurring into a rush of tunnel vision. This is a 53’ trailer for a Tesla self-driving semi, 100 hours to paint. Straight lines that are 50+ feet can’t be gotten with a projector (lens distortion), nor tape/string due to gravity. The truest way to get a good reference was a laser line.
I’m resharing this project from 2023 because I hadn’t posted a picture in quite its final form. The background design is an iteration of a much simpler monochromatic mural I did in 2012, this time with unhinged color and intensity. 🤟⚡️🖤🎆🎇🧨

A few Detail & Process pics of the walls of one of Austin’s most legendary garages. I used acrylic spray paint (primarily Belton Molotow, using red needle caps and Lego caps). The rolled paint is satin acrylic. Thanks to my wife Nikki and to my friends Julian and Don for the assistance 🫶

An abstract-surreal mural as a celebration of the drive and the flow. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Uniquely, the entire car collection here is American, so for the subject I took inspiration from the first Detroit Grand Prix in 1982. (They ran a street course. John Watson won from 17th for McLaren-Ford. Lauda, his teammate, locked wheels with another driver in an aggressive pass attempt, crashed into a wall - DNF). I will post detail shots in another post 🏎️💨💨💨

“Grow where you’re planted.”
The Norse settlers in Greenland had no interest in eating the fish all around them. Unwilling to break tradition, they starved and vanished.
To me, “grow where you’re planted” means staying sensitive to my natural sources of energy, strength, and knowledge.
Make art feel like breathing—just wear a respirator.

A mural for the Olive Vista Middle School Pandas in Los Angeles. • “Olive” near-rhymes with “All Love.” • While in LA I visited Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock house and also the Ennis House - both of which were inspirations for this piece. Big thanks to for the opportunity and to the students and faculty of Olive Vista for the hospitality. 🫒🕊️🫶

I’ve been on podcast bender the last few months, a lot on AI Agents and architecture. What are you listening to this month?
Also, if you aren’t following my actual brother from my actual mother, based in Detroit, look at and his curation page - yep so give that a look too. I have a few really neat pieces of his here at the studio.

This painting on wood “Mic Check N°2” used to be the easel on which I hung and painted other paintings. The layers are more or less organic from overspray, and off-canvas paint tests, and elements from a year of paintings completed on it.
The painting has a French cleat, but the dense concrete wall was not cooperating. So we strung a chain through a pair of race tow straps and hung it from rafters. A wrap of this painting is being used on a BMW Racecar this season (saving the photo for when that is revealed, soon though!), which is exciting!
Available. 💐 We have a full list of available paintings and prices, contact for a studio visit or more info.
