Time to start a new week! We hope the school drop-off lines have been manageable, and you (parents) were able to celebrate back-to-school with a mimosa!

We actually often recommend annual eye exams for kids a few weeks into the school year, when the initial rush is over. Our students can give us better feedback on how their eyes are feeling and functioning in their new classroom.

Did you know Jackman Eye has their very own Dry Eye Spa?

We use this relaxing space to perform dry eye treatments such as Lipiflow, Low Level Light Therapy, and IPL (intense pulsed light) Therapy. All of these treatments can improve the function of the Meibomian Glands. Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) has been found to be the primary cause for dry eye in about 85% of cases!

Meibomian glands release a very important layer of oil over the surface of our eyes every time we blink. Without the oil, our tears evaporate way too quickly leading to a scratchy, gritty, burning sensation and blurred vision. The glands can get blocked, clogged, dirty, infected or atrophied.
