Congrats to Megan Pinto of Megan Pinto Designs, our first place winner AND People's Choice winner! Megan's show stopping and detailed design was inspired by the red lechwe, a gorgeous antelope found in the wetlands of Zambia, Angola, and Botswana.

We owe a giant THANK YOU to everyone who attended and helped put on ! SaulPaul was an incredible performer, Frank Sughrue killed the live auction, and Kathy Valentine was the best emcee and all around cool cat! We could not have done this without ALL this year's talented designers, our expert judges, and visionary fashion show producer Ceci Guevara. Most importantly, thank you to all our TCE members who keep showing up for the environment and their communities across the state. Here's to ANOTHER 30 years!
Very excited to announce the publication of images I created over the summer in Colorado Springs!!

This set was incredibly difficult to pull off and put together. We had to do EVERYTHING - from spending 2 straight days making cakes, to making the table cloth and chair covers. It was INTENSE. We scraped together resources, and everyone helped out with the set and props and we worked really hard to collaborate on everything

Sneak peek of behind the scenes of creating Wonder Woman costume for which is an amazing nonprofit organization helping children and their families dealing with cancer.

Photos from Megan Pinto Designs's post 05/05/2022

I’m so very honored to be apart of my second year creating cosplay costumes for such wonderful children. Superhero Suit Up Campaign is truly dear to my heart.

Candlelighters selects the most deserving children battling cancer within the organization annually based on specific criteria: Currently on treatment; Severity of cancer & treatment; Life altering side effects from cancer and/or treatment; Relapse or length / longevity of time on treatment / battling cancer. The children and their families attend a Hollywood Premiere themed Reveal Party where they see their movie posters and movie trailer on the big screen. This two-part experience is extremely empowering for the children and their families as they see the support of the community surrounding them during their most difficult time of need.

I would like to thank, Karina Goulet lovely daughter,
Chelsea, for interviewing me about my company in fashion sustainability impacting environmental change. I firmly believe in upcycling trash and transforming it into wearable works of art. Not only does it tell a story about what the actual disposable product is, but what it can become and change our mindset in recycling to help prolong our planet’s lifespan. Also, a thanks to the videographer who surprised me mid interview,

Zantanna, AKA Trinity, transforms into the brave superhero she truly is. When faced with hardships, she overcomes without even a flinch.

Mitchell - Hulk

See Hulk smash and fight against the evil villain. This brave child did that and won. So proud of him.

01/25/2022

Being a Superhero is more than just being brave, it’s fighting against all odds. I’m so humbled to see such superhero’s overcome something that is a true villain.

01/23/2022

I’m so humbled to be apart of last years Candlelighters of Brevard Campaign Superhero for children overcoming cancer, and am honored to be apart of this year’s campaign as well. As a costume designer, it brings me joy to see the empowerment each child has in their custom made suit.

doing her beautiful modeling for the Trash Makeover Challenge 2021, which we took home Grand Prize and People’s Choice.

12/05/2021

My latest design with model and MUA, for the TCE Trash Makeover Challenge 2021, which I took home First Place and People’s Choice. My inspiration was the Red lechwe and I wanted to create the ecosystem in which he lives in. EVERYTHING in this garment was pulled out of dumpsters and trash from local business and at work. 🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑
I recreated the marshy waters by recycled water bottles. The frog and Lilly pads are made from milk cartons. The red fish is made of a stores window curtain and actual fish scales that my father caught and neighbor cooked. The cypress trees are made from Togo containers I collected after my coworkers ate. The Parnassia Palustris flower is made from the window curtain, milk carton and real tree branches. The dress’s shell is made out of screening and then layered with packaging cords which I used my finger nails to pull each individual string, and was cut about two inches long. The front panel is also the window curtain, which is in the shape of the red lechwe’s body silhouette. The baby red lechwe is composed of furniture packaging and layered with real foliage from my back yard, and then hand painted. For the hair I used actual branches to create the horns and smaller ones to resemble a crown. The Red Lechwe is decreasing in population and I hope that we begin to understand these animals and help with their repopulation. They need our help with their survival against hunters.
