This morning, the Jade class started the day on the butterfly pavilion with some jump roping. It had been about a year since they last picked up a rope, so remembering how took a little patience. What stood out was how clearly the students could name what they needed: some wanted friends cheering them on, and others needed a quieter space. Their mentors encouraged them every step, and the kids cheered for each other as they jumped higher and higher.
A typical morning at WLLC, and a sweet one. These are the moments we love to catch.
We are constantly enrolling and we have space. We also accept TIFA funds, whether you are a recent recipient or a future one. We would love to meet you and see how you fit into our community.

Our chess club played its first interscholastic tournament today, and it was a joy to watch. Our students faced off against other schools on a virtual platform, and the excitement in the room was contagious. Big moves, big focus, and even bigger smiles.
First tournaments are about more than winning. They’re about stepping into something new, learning to stay calm under pressure, and discovering how much fun it is to test your mind against fresh opponents. We couldn’t be prouder of every player who showed up with curiosity and courage.
Here’s to many more matches ahead, Whole Life Learning Center chess club!

It started with one mom spotting a playscape on Marketplace. She talked with the school administration, shared it in the parent WhatsApp group, and from there the community took over. Parents and caregivers chipped in funds, drove out to take it apart, hauled it to campus, and came together to put it back up and secure it in place.
This is what happens when families care about a school. Working outside the limits of a nonprofit budget, they made room for more outside time, more big movement, and a whole lot of joy for our kids. A seemingly small task turned into something incredibly large, and it will be part of Whole Life Learning Center for years to come.
Thank you to every parent and caregiver who showed up in all the ways necessary. This is community at its best.
Want to learn more about Whole Life Learning Center? Reach out! We would love to talk more about our open admissions and opportunities to join our community in a variety of meaningful ways.

Rain didn’t stop us. Parent Coffee moved over to the Hive and we took over the outside space, and the turnout was wonderful. It was so good to see new faces next to familiar ones, catching up on what’s happening around campus and what’s coming up on the calendar. This is what community looks like at WLLC: showing up, sharing a warm (or cold) drink, and connecting over what matters to our families. See yall at the next one. Or at a Friday Meanwhile gathering. (Don’t know what I’m talking about, send me a dm)

What a morning for our WLLC community! Huge thank you to Taelor Monroe and the Austin Permaculture Guild for leading a composting workshop where we built a functional composting system for our school. The turnout was incredible.
The work day went well beyond compost. Our dads hauled trash off the property and power washed the back wall and butterfly pavilion. Parents moved mulch to the Ruby playground and the food forest and tackled the jujube forest. Coffee and tacos were shared all around, and while none of it made it into photos, it all happened and it made a real difference.
Taelor, thank you for restarting our composting system.
And a big shout out to Jacqui and Martin. Your work made this day possible, and we are so proud of what our community accomplished together.

Before circle time even started, the kids had already pulled out Munchkin and were organizing the game, walking new kids through the rules, just a normal part of their morning.
That’s what a lot of people don’t expect from this place. It’s not one single vibe, not everyone quiet and careful, not everyone loud and chaotic. It’s a mix. Some mornings are bigger energy, some are quieter, and kids move between them depending on what they need that day. The same kids who get rowdy over a card game are the ones showing up for each other in circle time, in art, in project time, in community care. Nobody has to shrink themselves or perform a certain energy to fit in here. Whatever your kid brings, big or quiet, wild or steady, there’s room for it.
We’re always enrolling. You don’t have to wait for a new semester or the end of the year. We tour year round, so come see it for yourself. Click the link in our bio or send us a DM if you’re interested.

Every day, our classrooms (and sometimes the whole school) gather in a circle. It starts small: a song everyone knows by heart, a bit of movement to shake off the morning. Some days there’s a game. Some days we talk through what the day holds. Some days it’s someone’s birthday, and the circle gets a little louder.
It’s simple, and that’s the point. Before anything else, we come together, we see each other, and we start the day as a group. That’s the rhythm circle time gives our kids, and it’s one they carry with them long after they leave the circle.
Curious what a day at WLLC looks like? Schedule a tour and see it in action.

Mentorship looks different at Whole Life. It is not always a lesson plan. Sometimes it is sitting down at circle time and really listening. Sometimes it is a quiet conversation on the walk between activities. Sometimes it is just showing up, again and again, so a child knows someone is in their corner.
Across every age group on our campus, kids are learning alongside adults who are not just teaching them, but seeing them. That distinction matters. A teacher delivers a lesson. A mentor builds a relationship, and that relationship becomes a place where a child can grow into who they are.
We believe every child deserves both.

This morning’s Coffee & Connections crew, minus a few faces who couldn’t make it into the shot. Rain sprinkled on and off the whole time and it didn’t matter one bit.
There’s something about the first Friday of every month that keeps this going. It’s low-key, it’s consistent, and everyone who shows up brings the same energy: just here to connect, no pressure, no agenda.
We talked about the summer, about the shift back into school mode, about missing people we hadn’t seen in a while and meeting a few new faces too. Underneath all of it is the same thing we’re all chasing: real community, real friendship.
Can’t wait to see you next month! October 2nd after drop off.
