Texas has always supported her Veterans in return for their military service. In 1946, Texas created the Veterans Land Board (VLB) to administer benefits exclusively for Texas veterans. Since then, the VLB has funded more than 200,000 Veteran loans. If you're a military member or Veteran, then you may qualify for special benefits provided by the State of Texas. The Texas VLB operates under the Texas General Land Office to provide Texas military members and Veterans land loans, home loans and home improvement loans. VLB also brings long-term care to Veterans in nine Texas State Veterans Homes located throughout the state and honors those who served in four Texas State Veterans Cemeteries. This week, we highlight the service of Lieutenant Clint Bruce who served in the United States Navy during the Iraq/Afghanistan war.

Bruce came from a family of Veterans and joined the Naval Academy, where his football career began. This led to his time in the NFL, before he left to become a NAVY Seal.

During his NAVY Seal training, Bruce was in Guam during the tragic 9/11 attacks. His grit and determination during training prepared him for war, and following the attacks he was deployed to defend our nation in the Iraq/Afghanistan war.
