We are at that age where many of us are thinking about Senior Living. Oh, I know, WHAT???? We are active, healthy adults, but time moves fast. There is a great article in the West Austin Community Newsletter identifying the type of care available, plus naming facilities that offer the car and what their cost is.
For example, Independent-Living is for healthy adults but offer fitness classes, housekeeping and communal meals.
Assisted-living provides care and supervision with the addition of medical assistance.
Memory-care adds a layer of care for adults with cognitive diseases.
Hospice-care are for adults with terminal illness and the prognosis is six months to live or less. This precludes any further curative treatment.
Nursing home/skilled nursing homes are fulltime medical monitoring and care.

Senate Bill 1844 now allows water adjacent property owners to disannex from city of Austin taxation. After years of complaints over lack of services, Colorado River residents outside the city limits can petition the city for removal from Austin taxation. Note the bill does eliminate your ability to get reimbursed for taxes collected after you disannex, so be sure to check on whether you will be approaching the city for reimbursement as part of the lawsuit over 2019 taxing vote.
Great news for property owners along the Colorado River that have long suffered low services and high taxes.

Visiting my listing in Sun City, 523 McKittrick Ridge Rd., I was admiring the large lot it sits on, a corner lot in the earlier area of development whereas the newer areas have no yards and you are steps from your neighbors. This would never work for me as I like to feel air around me, not hear everything my neighbor is doing, have a bit of land to play in with some landscaping from time to time. I don't live in downtown Austin because of the congestion, so living out a bit in a community with more activities than any other area I can name, plus having a full yard to enjoy, is one of the highlights of this home.
