A Better Force

"I don't know what I'm doing wrong."

We can't tell you the number of times we've heard some variation of this phrase from our Black and brown peers.

The issue? A missed promotion, being ghosted after a great interview, never getting the call back for a board position, or worse, finally getting a seat at the table only to be completely ignored.

Our answer? "It's not you, it's the system."

Because we've been there, done that. Straightened our hair, wore muted colors, changed our presentation five different times to use the perfect words, twisted and bent ourselves to fit the version the system wanted us to be. But it didn't help us be accepted more. It didn't make our voices be heard.

Because the problem was never us. The problem was a broken system that did not want to change or to be challenged.

This was the inspiration behind our 'Find Your Voice' workshop where we teach people about systems of oppression and how to deconstruct myths of success based of broken systems, especially for communities of color.

Come join us this Saturday (Sept 12) from 2 - 4 PM for our 'Find Your Voice' workshop at the Austin Energy HQ in Mueller, part of the City of Austin's Welcome Week 2026. This event is completely free and was made possible by a grant from the City of Austin's We All Belong – Austin Against Hate initiative.

Hope to see you there. Register at https://findyourvoicewithabf.eventbrite.com/

We are beyond excited at having won the 2024 Emerging Business award last night at the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce Ovation Gala - Awaken the Dragon, in the presence of so many of our friends, peers and loved ones! We couldn't do what we do without the support of our clients, community partners and well wishers, so we dedicate this award to our ABF family and community. Each one of you have helped us get to where we are. Hope to continue to serve you all and work together to usher in a better, more equitable world ❤️

Don't miss out on this special session by AFSSA, catered to the Bangladeshi community living in Austin. There will be free food and great discussion about the challenges of this unique identity being swept under the broader identity of being a "Desi" or "Indian." We're so excited to have had the chance to collaborate in creating these amazing discussions. Thank you at AFSSA for everything you do! RSVP at: bit.ly/DeshiVoicesATX

Our next Deshi Voices meeting is THIS Wednesday - FREE FOOD will be provided 🥳

We’re going to be unpacking intersectionality, the struggles of being a minority within a minority and how this shows up in the ways we experience and move in the world.

Thank you so much to A Better Force for collaborating with us in creating discussion guides. We are so grateful to continue expanding on the meaningful conversations we’ve been able to have on what it means to be Bangladeshi in America and how restrictive gender roles have contributed to violence within our communities 🇧🇩🫂

These conversations are where change happens and ripples out in the communities we are a part of and care about.

Hope to see you there! Please RSVP at the link in the comments 💌

When: Sept 25th @ 6:30-8:00 pm
Where: Carver Branch, Austin Public Library: 1161 Angelina St, Austin, TX 78702

Really excited to announce that Saamiya and Sarah have both been selected to be part of the Leadership Austin program this year. Sarah joins the Emerge Class 18, while Saamiya joins the Essential Cohort 46. Hoping to take all the wisdom from this amazing program and serve you all even better. Our course started off with discussing Austin's history of racial segregation and the 1928 plan. Did you know East Austinites have a lower life expectancy vs. those living in West Austin? This is why it's so crucial to heal our divides as we grow as a city.

We love participating in DECA events! Come join us!

Thank you for organizing this great event for small business owners. We loved being a part of the panel, and getting to share our experience with other entrepreneurs.
