October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month... so can we PLEASE make this the month that Branston finally finds his family?! 💚😭

Because seriously... HOW is this baby still waiting?!

Branston is smart, gentle, playful, dog friendly and an elite-level cuddler. He loves belly rubs, playing outside, food puzzles, wrestling with his brother, collecting sticks and falling asleep touching his people.

Personal space? Still just a suggestion. 😂

He’s crate trained, nearly completely potty trained, uses the dog door and is already learning commands.

And then there are THOSE EYES.

GOOD GAWD, THE EYES. 🥹

This sweet boy has been ready for his forever family... he just needs them to SEE him.

So for Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, we’re asking our village for one really simple thing:

Seriously... HOW is Bronco still on the roster?! 😂

This sweet boy is smart, gentle, affectionate, playful and just goofy enough to keep things interesting. He loves other dogs, toys, belly rubs, playing outside and following his people around to supervise household operations.

He already knows sit, down and come, sleeps all night in his crate, does great in the car and is doing AWESOME with potty training and his doggy door.

And obviously...

🏈 Looks GREAT in orange.
🧡 Excellent cuddle potential.
🏈 Happily accepts snacks.
🧡 Won’t question your play calling.
🏈 Still has ears capable of picking up the game without a satellite dish. 😂

But here's the problem...

Seriously... HOW?!

Brynn is smart, curious, adventurous, hilariously playful and an absolute LOVE. She’ll wrestle with the dogs, play with the kitten, conquer the ball pit, explore the backyard, carry her toys around like she has somewhere very important to be... and then climb right into your lap for cuddles and belly rubs. 😂

She’s basically big brain, big personality and VERY enthusiastic love wrapped up in one adorable little package.

And yes... there are also those eyes. 😍

She’s dog AND cat friendly, incredibly food motivated, quick to learn, doing GREAT with potty training and already an accomplished professional cuddler.

She has SO much personality and so much love to give... she just needs someone to choose her. 🥹💜

😳😳😳 WE BOTH JUST DID SOME SCARY S**T.

But the important thing is... WE DID IT. 💪

has to get weekly injections right now. Driving across town to the vet is SUPER stressful for him, so last week I had to learn how to give them myself.

Now, I have given injections to humans. Dogs. Cats. Probably other creatures my brain is currently too 😵‍💫 to remember. Hell, I even had to give MYSELF injections when I was pregnant.

But ya girl ain't never given a shot to a pissed-off fancy chicken with BOLT CUTTERS attached to his face who could absolutely take me in a fight.
..until now.

He was actually due for his injection yesterday, but His Royal Featheredness was NOT interested in cooperating with literally anything. Today wasn't looking much more promising.

So we started with a nice warm shower. Let him relax. Got him weighed in the bathroom after he flatly refused to cooperate with the scale in his bedroom, because I need an accurate weight to make sure his medication dose is correct.

Last week, Mama Jennifer came with me to learn how to restrain him so I can do the injections. Which was incredibly helpful, but also... what an inconvenience to have to disrupt somebody else's day every week so they can come over and hold your Angry Bird while you stab him in the breast. 😂

So when I opened the shower curtain to retrieve my soaking-wet little man today, I said some prayers.

For him.

And for me.

Mostly for the continued existence of my fingers.

We sat together while he dried off a little. I attempted bribery with tortilla chips.

He declined.

Because he's smart, and apparently tortilla chips taste suspiciously like BETRAYAL when your mother is holding a syringe. 🙄

I said one final prayer, gently wrapped him in a towel the way his doctor taught me, modified the technique a little so I could safely manage him by myself...

AND WE FREAKING DID IT. 💪😭

Medication successfully administered.
Fingers still attached.
Cockatoo unharmed.
Mother slightly traumatized.

And now he's sitting on the back of my neck while we have some mandatory post-stabbing bonding time so that hopefully, within the hour, he'll decide not to hate me anymore.

10/10 teamwork, Flutter Bug.

🐾 MEET THE TEAM: CHILLBERT & PUMPS McGEE 🎃

Not everyone who works behind the scenes at Pawsitive Restorations has fur.

Some of them weigh a small ton, live on a stainless-steel table, and have a suspiciously enthusiastic little green sidekick named Pumps McGee.

Meet Chillbert. 😂

We originally brought Chillbert onto the team for one very important reason:

P**p.

Specifically, the exceedingly disgusting, absolutely unholy, what in the fresh hell happened in this kennel variety of p**p that sometimes accompanies dogs coming into rescue with gnarly GI issues. 💩🤢

Plain pumpkin can be super handy to have around, but when a foster only needs a few teaspoons, opening an entire can gets expensive and wasteful FAST when you're doing it across multiple foster homes.

So Chillbert got a job!

He freeze-dries pumpkin into little shelf-stable treats that we can keep on hand and send home with our foster families when needed. Add a little water and BOOM... pumpkin. Or just hand one over as a healthy, tasty treat and suddenly the dogs think we're wonderful instead of realizing we're trying to improve the structural integrity of their p**p. 😂

Chillbert has been out of commission since last fall following an unfortunate incident that we shall simply refer to as *The Incident.*

But this week he has been thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, reassembled and, along with his trusty vacuum-pulling associate Pumps McGee, is officially BACK ON THE JOB. 🫡

When he's not working for the PRAR 'Department of Questionable Bowel Movements,' Chillbert moonlights making delicious all-natural freeze-dried treats for our friends, events and Holiday Silent Auction to help support the rescue.

He's about to be VERY busy.

This year, though, Chillbert would like to expand his culinary portfolio. 🎩

Pumpkin + sweet potato?
Pumpkin + bone broth?
Something completely different?
