Carrie Adamson-Riefler

Her artwork presents mangled and twisted beauty. She believes in the redemption and triumph of the soul and that through perseverance and courage, regardless of past mistakes, one gets the chance to start again - thus reconfiguring oneself. In Carries current body of work, destruction constitutes renewal; chaos allows for cohesion as she shoots, corrodes, and destresses sheets of metal. On top of this battered surface, she paints portraits of people she has interviewed regarding their mental health. The tarnished surface of the metal reflects the mental turmoil of her subjects. encouraging a dialogue of contemplation and reflection portraying a dichotomy of struggle and perseverance using portraiture and metal work.
