ID Days at SieMatic this year was about product extensions and mainly new door and finish options. And the addition of this design hub where all of those come together with all of the existing styles and finishes is one of the highlights this year.

There’s one fewer display kitchen this year for ID Days 2025 in the 3-story SieMatic Forum. This large space has now become a design hub where at a single glance one can see everything and mix and match inside the SieMatic Color System. This is also where we’re seeing more new colors and samples of laminates, lacquer, metals and veneers, including an extra thick walnut veneer that allows for there to be a brush that reveals the depth of the wood. It’s ID Days at SieMatic!

Last night was the big party launching the annual SieMatic ID Days, an exhibition every year at the factory here in Löhne, Germany. For two days we’re immersed in the latest design and product innovation and also connected with each other personally as we can only do here at the source of all things kitchen by SieMatic.

Wishing you the best of Independence Days. It’s a day of rest of relaxation and great food with friends and family. It’s also a day to celebrate our freedoms and the amazing ability we have to create.

We live in a world of rapid change and exploding technology. But thankfully the art of kitchen design in some ways is exactly the same as when I started designing kitchens. It’s a warm bright spring day on a Friday afternoon before Easter. And I have the room to myself and am able to draw this kitchen on the floor with markers pencils and a straightedge made of one of the floor boards. With all the complications today, you can bet that I am not only grateful for moments like these but wanting to savor them.

A new construction project designed during the pandemic with all of us still in masks came to life late last year and I finally got yo see it and spend some time with our clients in situ.

It’s rare that I get to design a 2-island kitchen. It often seems like the idea will work and clients love the concept, but I have always believed that form follows function. And that means the architecture of the room and the lifestyle of our client open the possibility to such a layout. The “galley” between the islands becomes a hub around which the other functions orbit, and the sequence of making a meal, which could have been a trek, is focused between the islands. SieMatic SLX lighted channels on front and back of both islands bring the heart of the home to life. And the contrast of the tall SieMatic wood grain concealing all except the 5 Gaggenau appliances warms the room up and creates texture. #siematicofficial #gaggenauofficial

Some penthouse views are better than others but I adore them all.
